How I did it: My roommate purchased tickets for the show for me from their website. We were at the House of Blues in Dallas and arrived almost 45 minutes before the show started. We got to stand right up against the stage!
I wish I could have stayed to meet the band and the opening act, Oppenheimer, but my roommate had work early in the morning.
But the Giants were great and it was such a fantastic experience to be around people (finally!) who love them and know their song just as well as I do! Everyone was throwing their hands up and yelling along at the perfect times. Read how I did it… 4 years ago

The Flood tour was my first concert. It was an outdoor show, and John talked about all of the bugs which were flying into his mouth. I have seen TMBG more times live than any other band. I love them :)
It’s been a few years since I’ve been, but they are touring my area this month, and I am going to try to drag my sister with me! 5 years ago
TMBG puts on a great show! I’ve seen them live seven times so far, and it’s always a good time. The best part is that if you’ve ever felt like the only person who even knew this band existed, suddenly you’re in a room of like-minded people! 6 years ago
Always a great show though the crowds get younger and younger each time (oh wait, that’s me aging!). Prepare to dance!
Can’t wait until the chum is a few years older and I can take him to an all ages show! 6 years ago
TMBG played the Lincoln Park Zoo’s Jammin’ at the Zoo concert series. The venue sucked but TMBG rocks, and I’m gonna try to see them at a better venue at next opportunity. This is DONE! 6 years ago
They’re playing on Sat the 13th in Albany… so I’m off to my second show! 7 years ago
Turns out they’re playing the one night I’m in DC for my interview… so I’m goingg to go. 7 years ago
Last time was at the Recher Theatre in Towson, with OK Go opening. They did a heck of a lot of their tunes that you wouldn’t expect them to do (imagine all of “Fingertips” live!) The encore featured OK Go dancing like maniacs in the middle of the audience to “Doctor Worm”! 7 years ago
New Year’s Eve, Brooklyn—definitely among my Top Ten Shows Ever. 7 years ago
I have seen them once… last January at the Borders in Albany and it was sooooooooo worth it. They performed quite a few of my favorites. Time to go again! 7 years ago
THEY give tons of concerts in NYC and Philly, and don’t venture out relatively much.
If you really want to see Them, plan a trip to NYC (you gotta heart NYC) and catch TMBG doing one of their not-infrequent free gigs. I saw a free show in Central Park once, many years ago, and I got Flans to sign my absentee excuse note from high school. :D 7 years ago
They are amazing. Thrice so far, once in Atlanta, once in Nashville, and once in Seattle. If they come near Alabama again, I will definitely go. I want to see them at least 5 more times before they stop touring. 7 years ago
I went to Lebowskifest on 7/22/05.
It was really fun! An entertaining show, and there’s just nothing like the atmosphere of a TMBG show. O_o At least in my opinion. But yeah, going to a TMBG concert is definitely worth doing! The best concert I’ve ever been to.
The pic is of Linnell’s feet. :] 7 years ago
If TMBG is performing in or rather near Chicago anytime soon, I am going. Johns, the ball’s in your court now! 7 years ago
I attempted to go see TMBG with a friend last night. He said he knew the venue—-it was really close to his house. So I went to his house and we were going to walk from there. We didn’t want to get there too early, because there was an opening band we didn’t care about. So we sat around playing guitars for a while.
Then we walked the several blocks to where TMBG was supposed to be playing. Nothing. Hmmm. We walked until we found one of the local papers and realized that the festival that TMBG was playing in took place in two different places. We had the wrong place.
The Right Place was near the river in Louisville’s downtown. While circling around trying to park, I accidentally drove onto the bridge. Before we know it, we’re in Indiana trying to get turned around.
We finally parked and walked for what seemed like miles and never found the concert. We asked some people if they knew where it was and they said ‘no’ and that we weren’t the first people to ask them that day.
It was so horribly hot that we decided to give up.
Oh well.
Maybe next time. 7 years ago
