I’m shopping for pumpkins today. I have one small one already. I think I need to find some with interesting shapes. Oh, no – It just started snowing here! 4 years ago

OasisOfCalmCool

I’m now a member of the team. Well, we’ve got one small pumpkin now! I dunno when I’ll get around to carving any, soon I hope! 4 years ago

~ John Lee ~Seed Savers

I plan to take all the seeds from the Pumpkin, pick out the bits of flesh, and toss them into a colander to wash. Afterwards I’ll let them dry on a baking sheet and save them for the colder months of the winter to include in the seed mixes for the birds. 4 years ago

Flutterbyflyby3I have an idea

I have taken to STARING at pumpkins. I actually did a pumpkin carving meditation. I asked my inner self to guide me to an idea. (Yeah I was bored, My Mom had minor surgery & I was sitting waiting & waiting – hospitals are boring).

Anyway, I have my idea…now implementation… 4 years ago

JudithKDI work in a farm stand...

and after corn season, guess what? We sell a LOT of pumpkins! I normally only do “average” stuff, but I’ll see a lot of pumpkins!

Maybe I should be a judge rather than a participant! Oh well.

SweetPea7Heaveemetal brings up a really good point...

Remember to sharpen your knives beforehand if you can.

It may seem counterintuitive; but, dull knives are more likely to cause cuts, and the ones they cause are usually worse.

Dull knives require more pressure to make the same cuts, so you’re more likely to lose control, or have it slip and then have it moving w/ greater force behind it. Whereas sharpened knives respond to a lighter touch, and if you do cut yourself at least it’d be a clean cut. 4 years ago
