How to participate in "The 43things Pumpkin Carving Contest". by cia007

How I did it: It took the longest time finding the perfect pumpkin, hence 10 days.  My son had the idea of a spider, so I freehand drew the spider on the pumpkin with a pencil, then used a garnishing tool and cut the top off to hollow out the pumpkin guts and seeds.   After scraping it all out, I used a small knife to carve the details. 

Lessons & tips: Have fun!  Bigger pumpkins are not necessarily better.  This one was quite small but well shaped and was just right to carve...didn't stink.  Garnishing tools work better than pumpkin carving kits!
