I recently unearthed a VHS to DVD capture device and software that I had purchased several years ago but never used. It is CameraMate Video Safe by a company that appears to have been swallowed up and no longer provides any support. Unfortunately, it apparently only runs on systems up to XP. All my computers are running Vista (Lord what an awful operating system it it!) Anyway, that aside. I downloaded some software that was supposed to work with Vista and my capture device. However, the capture device seems not to be recognizing the connection between the VHS player and the computer. I have determined that the thing may not be functional. So, I decided, what the heck, I’d just get another program and device. After doing research I have no earthly idea what software/capture device is best…there’s a lot of opinions out here, a good many negative ones…so, are there any programs with capture device that are really good?
How to transfer home movies from VHS to DVD
How I did it: Connect my old VHS to my DVD recorder and then burn it on DVD. Very easy to do and no need for a computer

Hmmm, where did I hide them! A year ago my husband and I were in the process of going through a divorce. I was angry and not a willing partner in the decision. Being a little mean spirited, I took all the family VHS tapes and DVDs and boxed them up and “hidden” them.
My husband and I are back together, happier than we have ever been, and I can’t for the life of me remember where I hidden them. I’m wanting to have all the VHS tape turned into DVD as a Christmas gift to him and the kids… Where did I hide them????

My daughter and I did something really cool for my son’s high school graduation. We took photos starting from when my husband and I were dating, wedding, his birth, baptism, infant years all the way through his graduation. We scanned them and put them on a DVD with songs/music that he liked over the years. Of course, the Jungle Book theme song along with Lion King’s were included.
The DVD turned out amazing. Wow, it brought back wonderful memories…many tears fell too! If your able to do this, I would highly recommend it. It’s now a family treasure.

With so many precious memories captured on video, I must transfer my VHS to DVD’s. I treasure these beautiful images.

Started this last weekend. 1st video was our wedding video. Captured it ok but it was too big for a single layer DVD. Will need to investigate some compression? Doesn’t need to be DVD quality because the original is only VHS.
