truestself is trying to regain control over her life.

to simplify my life 1 week ago

This is sort of a part of my other goal, but I think it is also quite significant one. I am going to start tomorrow by going through mine and my kids closet and getting rid of clothes we no longer need.

    Always. 5 months ago

I’ve always wanted to do this and I do it in spells, but I always seem to recollect more crap. In two weeks, I am moving into a place that is a little over 200 square feet. Time to start throwing all my piles in the donation box STAT!

    Oh to be fancy-free!

i have realised i need to stop buying new products. Like shower and bath things and make up. just fing stuff that works and stick with it. i’m getting better with this but its annoying when you’ve got 5 or 6 half full bottles of shampoo!

with 6 filled garbage bags, i have successfully managed to clear out one corner of my room. It felt empty and sad at first but now when i wake up in the morning, i feel more energetic, i don’t have all that stuff staring at me in the face. I still have quite a bit more to do but hopefully i will have emptied the other wall by the end of tommorrow. yay.

How can every single inch of my walls and floors be accompanied by an object? And its tidy, I just have way too dressers and storage filled with useless crap. Oh this is overwhelming. I just emptied one and now i have to sort everything. I sorted it before but more than half the stuff i havent thrown away and i know its all really stupid stuff.

Do i need a that many zippers??

NO, i don’t. I havent sewn in quite a while.
But my grandmother gave me those zippers..

she probably doesn’t even remember she gave them to me..

so, i remember how she is always so happy to give me all those sewing items, wanting to see what ill do with them and how proud she is..

but its just accumulating dust. she’ll understand. ok giving away the zippers. Now, my prom shoes.. Will i ever where them again? probably not..

    I HATE THIS

I reduced my personal belongings to 100 items December 08. Between then and now I’ve managed to get even more crap that I don’t need.

    Trash it 10 months ago

I brought the trash dumpster into my bedroom. It is remarkable how quickly one can fill it when it is right there. I had so many things around that were completely useless—-old papers, unopened mail, just plain junk. There weren’t any gut-wrenching decisions, no parting with things I love, just the junk.

Next on the list are the useful things I don’t need. There is a veteran’s charity shop on my way to work, a number of things need to find their way there.

Large, plastic bins have helped immensely with the things I need, but don’t use daily. I just need to commit to moving them from one side of the closet to the other every six months, unpacking each container, purgng it and packing it again, just to be sure that I really need the things I am storing away. I don’t want the bins to become my next bugaboo.
