How I did it: It wasn't difficult. I happen to be a major Buffy the Vampire Slayer geek. He happened to create the show. I happened to go to a very geeky convention, where he happened to put in a surprise appearance. Voila, we met, we shook hands, I suppressed my inner squees... He even gave me an autograph and a picture (Score!) Too bad he still doesn't know I plan to work for him one day... :D
I meet him at the opening of the Sitges cinema festival, Serenity was the movie opening the festival, he was there and he was about to sign me an autograph when that ugyl lady from the festival staff took him away. All I got was a smile, and a “Sorry, I’ll sign it later”.
Luckyly later he signed my Fray comicbook, so all ended well.
If there is one person on my list of things to do that I seriously want to meet more than anyone else, it is Joss Whedon. He is brilliant. There are so many things I would like to ask him. Why he killed off Tara. What he would have done if he would have gotten to continue Angel. Sooo many other questions.
At the end of September 2005, Joss Whedon graced my fair city of Sydney, Australia with a Q&A session about his movie ‘Serenity’.
I was lucky enough to shake the hand of my idol, speak with him, and get his autograph..which hangs proudly above my bed.
