well, one of my friends showed me how to eat with chosticks and it wasn’t so difficult… now i can eat most of my food with them, if it’s diced… i heard that Asians didn’t take the rice with the chopsticks but took the bowl and rather pushed the mount of rice to their mouth…is it true?
also do the Chinese and the Japanese eat the sameway or not?

It’s nice to have hello kitty chopsticks, but when you have so many Japanese artifacts lying around, including something like five sets of chopsticks for no apperant reason (besides the actual fact of having them), but the problem is that they look to nice to actually spoil.
I do not own a set of my own, not really, I do have a kero-kero-keropi utencil set, but it does not include a traditional hashi. The set consists of a fork, a spoon, probably a plate also, but it must have got lost along the way. All fitted for the measures of a baby, with a plastic handle of course. But then again – no sticks. They let babies eat with forks most of the time so I’ve heard, and also give them chopsticks at an older age.
So my advice – get something out of wood. You may find aluminum painful, same goes for stainless-steel, using disposable sticks, the one you buy
Try to ask your Japanese friends how they hold it, because it’s a well known fact that Nihonjins and Gaijins have a different grip, and a good grip can also make life a whole lot easier for you. (I’m serious, just ask them.)
And just for the record, even my Japanese friend, Takahiro, ate his lunch with a fork.. (and his mom made his lunch, not some sick westerner ;) )
Oh, and by the way, be careful with the amount of rice you eat, I gained about 5 Kg from eating just rice for a whole week…

Have a bunch of nice ones, and some cute Hello Kitty ones for the kids. And soup works, if it’s a noodle soup, eat the noodles up with the chopsticks, and slurp up the broth with gentle tip of the bowl, yummmmmm!
I love chopsticks, and I want to make them my main eating tool. So I am working on it. I will let you know if I get better. This should be interesting :D
