tomandshe is trying to escape from life on 43things for half an hour
Today we bought some plastic protector for the sides of our glass table. This will protect him if he bumps the side of the table in that he will run into something soft rather than hard glass (10/12/09).

We have just bought a lot of safety plugs for the power points. We are also moving the television, video etc to an area where it is harder to get at. At the moment our son is reaking having playing with the television (16/10/2009).

The next task to do for this goal is to clear out a room of his own to run around for the baby. The previous area he roamed around in in the house is no longer suitable as he can jump over the gate surrounding it. He can also climb out of his portacot. So we will have transform a room for him to run around in so that he is not doing the dangerous behaviour of climbing out of areas.

Shortly we will be putting some doors on various cupboards in an effort to give our child another area where he can walk around the house without pulling things out. It is certainly difficult to keep up with a growing child.

Toilet Latch.
We bought a latch for the toilet today. That way there can be no accidents with him getting in there without our knowing.

Fence Me In.
We have now secured a fenced off section of the house where our son can crawl around in. He seems to enjoy this and plays with his toys in this area. It is also big enough for us to jump into and play with him so it also gives us parents a lot of pleasure.

We first tried the Kidco toilet lock but our bolts are plastic and worn so it didn’t work. I bought the Mother’s Helper toilet lock and it works like a charm. It’s cheaper too. Go figure.

Crawling Area.

We have cleared a large section of the house for our son to crawl around in in the near future. Today we will work on getting the necessary safety areas in place so he can start using it shortly.

Added toilet to the list. Babybutt tired to open the toilet today. Thank goodness she failed. The toilet would already be baby-proofed but the first contraption I bought didn’t work with our toilet. It would’ve been so easy too. I did buy something else, just haven’t tried to put it on… seems a little more complicated. Hokey said he would try to put it on. Gotta tell him to do it soon!

1. I took everything from the bottom shelf in the bathroom and put it on the top shelf. Things like shampoo, mouthwash, suntan lotion, etc. And put the towels on the bottom shelf. So Babybutt throws all the towels on the floor. It’s better than her putting her mouth on a bottle of shampoo or getting her hands on some meds.
2. I moved some things from the bedroom bookshelf to storage bins and now the last two shelves are all baby books. There are still lots of books that she could easily tear. If this becomes a problem we might have to store all books except for board books, but for now it’s a fix.
