I’m going to try and run at this pace for the next week or so to acclimate my body to running every day without fail (this means, you know, I have to run every day without fail). Then, instead of 28 minutes, I’m going to try and run it at 27 minutes – a 9 minute mile pace.

Today, I did my base reading for this. Right now, I can run 3 miles in 32 minutes without killing myself. I was on pace for 30 minutes for the first two miles; I had to drop down to a 12-minute mile the last one.
Usually this summer I’ve been running 4 miles in 50 minutes or so, just to keep my hand in. However, if I want to run with my boyfriend before class next year (read: if I want to actually run before class, and not just claim I’m going to – he’ll keep me honest) I need to be able to do 3 miles in 30 minutes outdoors. This time is on a treadmill, so 28 minutes seems fair, adjusting for the ground being shitty/atmospheric conditions/etc.
Once I make this goal, I’m going to try to run 4 miles in 40 minutes, and then (I hope) 5 miles in 50 minutes. It would be amazing to be able to run 5 miles before class every day.
