funny story: when I was 13, a substitute teacher from Egypt came to our maths class and spent the entire hour talking about the sights and sounds in Egypt. Then he taught our class how to write our names in hieroglyphics.

How I did it: I was on a trip in Eilat/Israel and have seen a week end trip announced on a flyer from Eilat (Red Sea) to Cairo through Sinai deset and back. I decided on the spot to do it. I just thought, wo I can go and see the pyramids without to book a whole week of vacation, let's do it! Cairo was noisy and dirty but still a beautiful city. Having taken a boat trip on the river Nile, seen belly dancers and seen Tutenchamun, Spynx, the Pyramids… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I planned to travel with a group within Egypt for part of my trip and on my own in Egypt and Jordan. I researched in travel books and online for a group that just sounded right for me. Look at belovedegypt.com. Up to 16 people participate in the group, and in addition to the thoughtful itinerary planned by a very experienced tour guide and Egyptologist, there are options for before and after trips. I pretty much customized some time … Read how I did it…

Lucrezea I'm going to update this, I swear! So busy doing goals. :D
Back in the days of yore when I was in junior high school, I was fascinated by Egypt. Hieroglyphics were nothing short of entrancing and the lore was all-encompassing. It turns out that 15 years later I’m still pretty darn fascinated.
Since I started bellydancing a few years ago, my love for Egypt has been effectively rekindled. Every time I look at my statue of Isis I’m reminded about how I want to go there. I think about everything I’ve been told by the people that have travelled and visualize myself experiencing it. Going there to pick up a few nice dance outfits wouldn’t hurt, either.

I was planning on going earlier this year but plans sort of fell through due to unfortunate circumstances so … I’m planning on September-ish with a tour group called Gap Adventures. I’m trying to save up so I can take both of my parents along too since they have not traveled anywhere really ever since they arrived in the States. Therefore, I’m trying hard to make some money and trying to find the cheapest tickets for us via www.priceline.com. Whooopeee… I would just love to see how Egypt compares to movies such as The Mummy and The Scorpion King (yes, I love those movies).

i listened to an amazing lecture on ancient egypt by bob brier that was purchased from the teaching company. his enthusiasm has me totally amped to see egypt for myself!
Is what I came away with after 14 days there in the middle of January. You can’t go somewhere as different from your culture as Egypt without having a mirror held up to your beliefs, your assumptions, your sense of identity… even your religion. Someday that I feel like going back, I’d like for it to be staying with someone who lives there and traveling the full extent of the Nile by land… But I can’t recommend this experience enough.
... the possibility of going just sort of fell into my lap. I hemmed and hawed and realized I had no reason to, and booked the trip! 15 days there, coming up in January! Scared and excited all at once! This was one of the first goals I put on 43Things, didn’t really do anything with it other than feeling good that people were cheering the goal, and look ma, I’m goin’! :-)
I finally put money down on the trip to Egypt I’ve been wanting to take. Am doing freelance work specifically to pay for it. April will come all too soon. The hard part will be deciding which places to see and which to miss. I’ll have 20 days! Thanks to the universe.
..ain’t that cool?
I’ve always wanted to go to Egypt ever since I was in fifth grade, mucho thanx to “The Mummies Alive” animation series that nurtured my looove for the land of the pharaohs. And the pull seems stronger every year that’s why I’ve decided to finally make my dream come true. Who knows? I just might meet my destiny here..
Wish me luck!
P.S. I wanna be happy there just like how happy I am in Portofino (see pic)...
intention and attention are all you need to realize a goal. My Western conditioning still holds onto the belief in effort and my mind tries to reconcile itself with both opposite fields. My attention is now turned to the fact that my beloved already has a plan and a structure to go to Egypt next year. Now all I have to do is to stay attentive for a way to accompany her… :-)
