Wanna improve pullup strength by doing one arm pullups

Untitled 2 years ago

Right now I can lock off after a 2 arm pull up and hold my self with 1 arm for 20 sec or more and do negatives but like the guy below said I just can’t get past that 90 degree sticking point going up. I’ve read a few ways to train to do them: one was with a towel or piece of sling around the bar to pull one hand on low with the arm your training then on the bar (like some suggested already); the other was to hang by one arm and place you other hand around the hanging arms wrist (pulling on you own arm in a sense). Once you can do 10 of these you move the hand to your forearm near the elbow. Once you can do 10 of these you move the hand to you bicep. Once you can do 10 of these move the hand to your shoulder and then your pretty much doing one arms anyway

Oh yeah the one arm pull Needs twice as more streangth then the medicore endurance based one arm pull,
I can hold off a negetive one arm pull now I guess in a month to half a year I could do technically currect one arm pulls at will..

hmm some tips are uneven pulls using towels and training them often short of faliure..

I think that one-arm bodyweight excercises require a lot of strength, and mastery of your own body. Unlike two-arm which seem to be more endurance, one arm really require strength and control. Right now I can’t even do ten pullups, so this will be a hard one. Pullups have never been easy for me.

2 arm pullups are boring, they rely too much on muscle endurance not strength. Ive been working at the one arm pullups for 2 months. Its that nasty 90 degree sticking point that has got me.
