    getting started 2 years ago

I just got started with a small carnivorous plant terrarium kit. Seems like growing them from seeds will be tricky. It has to sit in the fridge for 6-8 weeks, and then will take another few weeks to germinate. I can’t wait for my extended family to come over next week and find a pot of dirt in the fridge…

the plants are doing well. The Venus Flytrap looks the best. I’m not sure about the Darlingtonia, it was knipped by frost. It should come out of it okay. The Sarracenia looks good. There seems to be a hitchiker in the pot with the Sarracenia. I believe it is a Sundew. It is very small, so I’ll see what it looks like when it gets bigger, if it gets bigger (could be a pygmy sundew).

I received my order from California Carnivores . One venus flytrap, one darlingtonia, and one sarracenia. I put them in near the window by my computer. I figured that it’s a good place, since I seem to be on the computer everyday and can’t ignore them.

I had a small carnivorous plant collection. My collection included three varieties of venous flytraps, a darlingtonia, and a sarracenia. I killed them while in nursing school.I think I’ll start with another venous flytrap.

    Gruesome garden... 3 years ago

I also got a big tray to put my whole collection in. Up to two pitchers, three fly traps, two sundews, the cobra, and the butterwart. I’d say that’s a decent little garden but I doubt it’s going to stop growing any time soon.

The third time's a charm... 3 years ago

So I made another trip up to California Carnivores, this time with Erin and Larry. Got myself another cobra plant and a little butterwart (my first) along with another sundew.

Not so happily ever after... 3 years ago

After moving back from Costa Mesa my dear, sweet boyfriend adamantly claimed that he’d take wonderful care of my planties as he tried to convince me to leave them at his new condo. I, against my better judgment, did so. This was the unhappy result.

Once upon a time... 3 years ago

In Costa Mesa I had a small carnivorous garden that consisted of one fly trap, one american pitcher plant, and one cobra plant. I purchased the trap and pitcher at a reptile show of all places and I got the trap up in Sebastopol at a carnivorous nursery.
