my mother was a veterinarian with a soft spot for strays. soo as you can guess we had a freaking zoo in the old house we lived in. I still remember the face she used to give my father when she would come home with a new one. It would be the same old argument with the same old outcome. Out of the gaggle of mix bred dogs and cats I will always remember how all of those animals were. how loving they were. how greatfull they were just to be with someone who cared.

I’m offering my services (translation) free of charge to local shelters and animal welfare groups.
I’ve also built a shelter where, in theory, a cat could sleep this winter, protected from the cold… though no cat deigned to go in! LOL
I am feeding stray cats and have picked up one, brought him to the vet, got him treated for fleas, ear mites, ear infection, got him his “shots”, then found him a new home.
I found a stray dog, wandering in traffic. After no one claimed her at the pound I went and got her, I brought her to the vet, got her her shots, got her treated for an ear infection, will get her “fixed” soon, and am looking for a new home for her.
Once she is gone, I might foster another cat.
I give money when I can, though these days, with the vet bills, I can’t do much.
I used to volunteer at the SPCA, cleaning dog cages. There are lots of ways to help! :)

My husband and I are feeding some feral cats in our neighborhood and we’re learning how we can get them spayed and neutered by the county we live in. I think my friend Michelle is willing to be “the bad guy” who takes them to the clinic—I don’t want the kitties to be afraid of me or they might not come for dinner or sleep in our garage any more. Most are too shy to be adoptable. A couple might be. We’ll see!
