It does the job, so if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. If it breaks, well then we’ll get a decent modern one.
I do find it quite amusing that the garage has a far more up-to-date and capable unit than the house… but then again, it was probably installed some 50 or more years later :)

I’ll leave it to you to figure out which is the before and which the after. :D

Well, the bloke came round to do the quote. He said we’d get it sent in the post. When asked directly he gave us an idea of cost. It’s rather expensive, a fact that he admitted himself. However, we were kind of expecting that – that’s what happens when you just go straight to the company who supply the electricity rather than any old electrician. The problem is that we would trust these people to do the job, whereas I’m not sure I’d be happy just getting an independent electrician in, even if it is cheaper. So we’ll probably end up paying the rather high fee just to get the job done. After all, we’ve been waiting to do this for 5 years, so I think it’ll be worth it.

Well, I’ve managed to make an appointment. For tomorrow afternoon. I wonder how quickly they’ll be able to schedule the work.

I had a message on my answer phone after work telling me to ring them to arrange for an appointment. I thought that’s what I did days ago. I guess I’ll find out when I return the call.

I rang up my electricity supplier for a quote yesterday – they’re supposed to be ringing me back with an appointment time, but I still haven’t heard from them.

Our fuse box is older than me. When turning it on or off, you need to use two hands – one to pull the switch, and one to hold it on the wall. We’ll have to get an electrician in to do this since the new laws say we aren’t allowed to do it ourselves.
