In 1999, when the last eclipse in Europe took place, I was lucky enough to travel easily to the region where it would be total. Together with a penpal, we travelled to Ulm where we were extremely lucky with the weather: during the hour where the eclipse was taking place it stopped raining and the clouds disappeared long enough to be able to watch it happen in all detail. It was a fantstic experience.

There was one in Cornwall August 2001. We’re just north, we saw it all get dark, but we only saw 95%. The rest we saw the total was on TV. Which was still pretty cool I guess.
