I did some really great cleaning not too long ago. I have fallen behind again… But I did buy a nice vacuum cleaner, steamer, and carpet cleaner which have helped immensely!
How I did it: I went through every nook and cranny with my trusty disinfectant spray and also lots of boxes to put stuff in to get rid of. It took me about 3 days and it was worth it, but be prepared to accept that, even though it's less cluttered, it will probably not be tidy, and that is a continous job.
Lessons & tips: make sure you have plenty of time to completly clean (like winter break) or else you will just have stuff sitting around since you have to make a mess to organize everything

Although he is schizophrenic, my brother has been coming over every week to help me get my house in order.
He has been amazing. I’m so grateful for his help. He has gotten my house relatively de-cluttered. He’s also going to help me tackle the big cleaning projects around here… prepping the floor so we can put the new bamboo flooring down.
I have gotten through a great deal of the laundry that has piled up, and also all the dishes that have been soaking (as I have no kitchen or dishwasher at the moment.) I can’t believe how much we’ve gotten done.
I’m starting to feel human again.

I cleaned the bathroom sink/counter, floor, and mirror… Last night was garbage night and I threw out a bunch of junk. I’ve got a way to go.

Whew! I did some sweeping and cleaned the floor in my bedroom. I also collected all the garbage from the bins around the house and wiped up part of the bathroom floor.
I also did some dusting.
:o)

I’m so overwhelmed by my house. My dogs track in a lot of dust/dirt, shed a lot, and I’m too messy. I have to break down the “cleaning” into smaller pieces so I can at least get started.
The thing that makes cleaning especially tough is that I don’t have a kitchen sink. (rehab) Also, my tub is clogged! I guess I’ll start with de-clogging the tub. My dad left a “snake” for me, I just have to figure out how to use it.
My house is also like a maze. I’ve been packing so I can move quickly, but I haven’t moved! I’ve got to get these boxes out of the way!
Today I’m going to:
- unclog the tub
- move at least 4 boxes
- clear a nice pathway through the hall
- collect all my laundry and put it in the laundry room

I thought about cleaning today, and some days I think that only the internal is real, so I almost did this in the external world, and certainly in the internal world.
and then finding myself back in the same mess of a room…story of my life…blaaaaaaaah

Usually I have only cleaned if I think a guy is coming over, at which time I frantically clean in case he were to know my true nature/lifestyle. By the time my last “boyfriend” was around, I stopped giving a damn. Which, I think, says a lot, because now I am cleaning all for myself—which, I also think, is the point here. Its pretty all clean, in a Tara “this is super-clean” sort of way—which is good, because too clean just makes me feel like I am living (rather not living) in a museum, or wose, a doctors office ! AHHH!
