Today I met with the girls to discuss our time line:

By Halloween we want to have a walk through of the show complete. This means blocking out each performers positions and transitions. No actual choreography, just their travel paths.

We also want to have our set construction done by the end of October. We are using a 3.5 ft platform and two 2 ft platforms, but we need two additional 1 ft platforms to serve as stairs.

Throughout October, we also plan on building dance fundamental skills in order to sharpen technique BEFORE they even learn the choreography!

During November (by Thanksgiving) we want to have all the choreography taught and learned, to give them 1.5 weeks of just polishing and cleaning the show.

The girls all seemed really excited and relieved to hear of this new plan. Let’s just see if we can stick to it!

The Problem 9 months ago

Every season it’s the same thing. We are always trying to finish the choreography for their performance up to the very last minute. This makes them all nervous, pressured and it makes it nearly impossible to have a clean, confident show. Our winter show is Mamma Mia, and I’d really like to finish it the first week in December.
