You’ll just have to take my word for it.

If ONLY I were in the UK. 3 years ago
Girl, 22, seeking a deep, warm and aromatic bath in which to immerse her weary frame. I have some experience with baths, but have been bath-less for 13 months now. I enjoy loofahs, bubbles, bath bombs and candles, and can BYOBAT (bring my own books and towels). No heartbreakers or players please. Only genuine baths need apply. NO showers.
I wish we could booty-call baths. We don’t have a bath in our house. And I love our house, but baths are a seriously difficult thing for me to live without. There’s truly nothing better than a long soak in a dim, scented tub with only books, tea and chocolate for company.
I’m going to find a day spa where I can have a long soak as part of a treatment. I did go to one at Bondi (overlooking the famous beach) when I was pregnant at that was quite gorgeous, but I think I’ll have a look around and see what gems I can find.
Also….I’m just day dreaming whimsically now….can you imagine if Lush had a day spa?

Instead of perpetually waiting on the perfect day, I decided the right time was during a not so great one. Isak went down for a nap & Markus headed out for some errands, so I had some time to take advantage of. I could have used it to clean the house more, but thought I’d pamper myself instead.
I ran the water while I selected my tub ammunition and fixed a tall ginger beer n’ absolut on the rocks. I also set up the laptop with some favorite music (Dead Can Dance) and grabbed the rest of the lindt orange intense chocolate.
When the tub was full, I lit some new purple candles and tossed in a Softy bath bomb that burbled up rose petals and scented the water (and house) with ylang ylang, rose absolute, lavender & orange.
I climbed in, kicked back and unwound in a big, big way, getting sucked into the music and my own breathing. I indulged in my treats, then eventually got around to unwrapping the Ring of Roses butter cream, which smelled of larkspur, honeysuckle, marigold, cornflower, evening primrose, lemon & rose. Delicious.
My loofah kicked up some sweet froth, I shaved with a new blade, then lay back for a while longer. Thinking. Not thinking. The window was open a crack & made the candlelit shadows dance around.
When I eventually got out, I wrapped up in a big purple towel and lay around on the bed cooling off for a bit, then gave my skin some love with a white chocolate massage bar before lounging around in a slinky red robe eating miniature mandarins, feeling very relaxed and wonderful.
Many, many thanks (again) to Lush for their generous package that wholly fed my inner bath addict. I must try to have an all out tub-extravaganza at least once a month. Fortunately I still have lots of goodies left. 4 years ago
I’ve been hoarding the giftbox Lush sent me, letting it sit by my bedside table to perfume the room with its sumptuous rosy scents. That isn’t what it’s for though, and I should let it fulfill its purpose in life. Maybe I should have the great bath sequel a month after the first… 4 years ago
There was a box outside the door this morning. A box from Lush. I could smell this before I even read it. Inside the box was a handwritten note and a beautifully wrapped present. It’s actually so gorgeous that I haven’t had the heart to open it yet.
Soon there will be a Great Bath Part II. Soon. 4 years ago
*I did this last night
I’m very glad I picked up the bunty box last week, because the postie didn’t bring my magical package quite in time (this is why there will be a Great Bath Part II) and I didn’t want to wait any longer.
My bomb of choice: The Think Pink Bath Ballistic. It smelled of lavender, tonka, vanilla, and neroli, had candy flowers and tiny pink & white confetti hearts inside that swirled around in the hot water that turned a rosy pink by the time the little orb of wonder had dissolved around me.
I lit a multitude of candles all around the bathroom, grabbed a handful of hazelnut truffles, brought in a warm vanilla chai made even more delicious with shots of frangelico. I put out the angel food cake body wash and the raspberry shaving gel, had my camera in reach so I could catch a few moments, and sunk in.
It was delicious. I was in there for nearly an hour (10 – 11pm) while Markus entertained Isak. I scrubbed and shaved and buffed and floated and exfoliated and meditated and melted. It was as close to pure bliss in the tub as you can get (alone).
Just glorious.
Afterward I wrapped myself in a fluffy moss coloured towel that I’d pre-warmed in the dryer & slathered myself in nut scented body butter and chocolate balm.
By then I was too tired and happy and relaxed to do anything – even log on and check off “worth doing” with a clean and contented smile on my face.

On occasion I’ve raved about my fanatical love of LUSH products (to the point that I thought I might find myself on the NW chopping block for promotion), but really, a bath isn’t a great bath unless it’s been properly bubbled and bombed, and they make my very favorite ammunition, hands down.
This may sound peculiar (perhaps I’ll blame the pain meds), but a week ago I wrote Lush, explained my situation, told them about this goal (and how much I adore their products) then asked if they’d like to help out (“for this one Great Bath; not the bath to end all baths, but rather the first bath of the rest of my life”) by sponsoring it.
Much to my surprise, yesterday I received an e-mail back (which I nearly missed when it was erroneously channelled into my spam folder) from a lovely woman at the company who said she’d heard of my quest for a Great Bath and was really moved (there are some personal reasons as well), wanted to help make it happen, and asked me what sorts of scents I like so she can “come up with a good cocktail” for me.
My own Lush cocktail? How utterly cool is that?! And how much am I looking forward to the mail this week? My bath anticipation just escalated greatly (as did my customer satisfaction). Oh I needed an out of the blue life-perk. Bless you Kate.
I’m counting the days… 4 years ago
Anyone who knows me knows that bathing is one of my favorite things. Real baths – leisurely ones, with bubbles and oils and bombs and candles and loofahs and a glass of something decadent.
Baths are soothing and healing and a perfect way to wash away the parts of the day you’d just as soon forget and savor the delicious ones. You can float, relax, drift away, clear your head. Scrub yourself clean physically and metaphorically. Rise from the tub like a butterfly, a fresh journal, a shiny, sultry, sexy thing.
Maybe I’m getting carried away, but I really love my baths. And for now (due to surgical circumstances beyond my control), my baths have been taken away. I know, first world problems… but I miss them terribly. They were my favorite little luxury.
October 22. This is the date I’m allowed to return to the land of marvelous soaks, so I’m going to have a fantastic one. I’m halfway there. And when I get there I want to have a big box of delicious bath products to pick from and do it right.
I’m going to be a bath advocate and invite anyone else who loves a good bath to join me. Be it in your own tub or a giant virtual bath-house – if you feel like celebrating the greatness of baths along with me, please feel free. I’ll put out the extra fluffy towels.
A little inspiration (oh, take a minute):
