Yes, I worked at Tower Records for 10 months. It was cool to see all the cds, Laser disks (back in the day), and even cassette tapes collecting dust for all to see. I did this and even got to go to a couple of random concerts for free. Pay wasn’t good but the free music and the cool people to hang out with were well worth it, until you got your paycheck.

But a few months ago, I quit my high-paying tech job to get some free time for myself, and for the time being started working at a records store.
w-o-w. I never knew work could be this fun.
It’s really hard work. You spend all day on your feet trying to be nice to stupid people who can’t remember the name of the track they want and try singing it instead!!! I only got a half-hour break all day and my legs and feet were killing me by the time I got home. I went to work in a bookshop afterwards – much better!
as long as you value coolness over wealth. Also, don’t bother with corporate chains.
You have to be nice to people with bad taste in music just like you have to be nice to people with good taste in music.
