musn’t forget I’ve had five birds before Sir Jack Pipão. I was a child, but I can remember them very well: Laranjinha, Segundinho and Amarelinha (canaries) and Bubo and Lara (I don’t know how to call these birds, but they were quite like those in the photo, including their colors).

They are called Budgerigars or Budgies in the civilized world.
Parakeets in the U.S. ;)

Hahaha!
Thanks for the information! I really appreciate it!
Usually people read something like ‘I don’t know how it’s called’ and they let you die without knowing it.

My bird was given to me when I moved alone to Porto Alegre in 2004, when I was 16. Until that, I’ve allways lived with my mom and dad, so this little bird became my valuable friend.
He’s so cute and adorable and such a good singer!
:)

The little parrot that packs a punch, the lovebird.
My boyfriend bought this little gem for me for our anniversary, quite possibly the most meaningful gift I’ve ever received. He’s such a little clown and fun to watch, I can’t wait to get our bird room set up so I can let him out and have him get to know us better.
To anyone looking for a pet bird to own, lovebirds are miniature parrots and as such need a lot of care and your companionship. They have ear-piercing chirps, are little chewers and have a lot of attitude. But once you become practically deaf like I have, then it doesn’t matter as much. Plus, a little bird poop never hurt anybody ^^

with money from our wedding. He was an amazing little talking budgie (parakeets to most US residents.)
Since then we’ve had two female budgies who lived reasonably lengthed lives.
Now we have 3 budgies (one a foundling) and a Timneh African Grey. Very happy little flock.
I would caution people that a happy bird, especially a lone parrot, will want a lot of your attention.

Some American Singers… Copper would be ideal, but whatever I find I like, I may go with regardless of color… :)

When I move to my new place, I will start with a Canary. Flight cage, American Singer (which sings and it would be nice if it was pretty to look at too), but where do I find a good breeder?? Hmmm….

I have always wanted a bird growing up. At 22 i finaly got one. My husband got me a HUGE cage for our anniversary and waited for me to find a breeder. I picked the most beautiful cockatiel ever. I have named her Piper. I just cant wait to get to know her better.

Birds are the best! I have two cockatiels and one budgerigar at the moment, and I know quite a bit about other pet birds. I personally love Cockatiels, though. My first cockatiel, Angelito, is so cute. When I let him out, he likes to go behind the cage and chirp at the wall. I think he likes to hear the echo. My second, Rocio, loves to explore, and gets Angelito and her in trouble. My budgie, Lily, is a little sad right now because her mate, Ricky (pictured above), died recently =(. But she’s a little prima-donna, and bosses the cockatiels around. Ah, the stories I have about my birds. They are a joy to have, and always entertaining, and full of love and curiousity!

I love my cockatiel…perfect apartment pet. Such a great little personality! Chickens are cool, too…they earn their keep.
