Sent one birthday card. 2 years ago

I sent my dad a birthday card that I bought for a friend’s 60th birthday in 2005. It should reach him on time but I mailed it one day later than I should. I didn’t forget my cousin’s birthday, which was yesterday, but I just didn’t sit down and write the long letter I owe her.

I'm doing very well 2 years ago

I’m actually writing my mom monthly and emailing/visiting my dad monthly. (These are huge things since we don’t have good/close relationships). I’m also writing my great-grandmother. Now I’ve just got to think of a way to spark some sort of relationship with aunts/uncles that I don’t know very well.

and I wrote a personal note in each one.

We had a 90th birthday party for my dad. I couldn’t contribute to the party planning but I did manage to put together a photo slide show on my daughter’s laptop. It was a hit. Now several cousins want copies.

another letter to write 3 years ago

Got another letter from Anna Jean. Her eyes are getting bad so she writes really big. I scratched out four pages in response. Should I type them up so it’s more easily readable? Miss Manners says handwritten is preferred, and I prefer it too, since this is to family.

Well, I finished that letter after Christmas. I haven’t called my Dad every Sunday. He really doesn’t like to talk on the phone. It’s “Hi.” “What’s goin’ on?” Then we mention one thing only. “Ok, bye.” Sometimes I get “Love you.” or “Tell the kids ‘Hi’.” He’ll be 90 this year. I really gotta do this.

Finish that letter to Anna Jean you started writing last August. Call Dad every Sunday.
