This was an experience of a lifetime. After driving 3 hours from Central Jersey to JFK, I was a bit tired and frankly fed up with the NY traffic. Seeing the long check in lines dropped my moral lower. But, then I looked at a sign saying Concorde check in. I followed the signs into an exquisitely posh area. There were two check in agents and no lines. After checking in, I breezed through the security where although I was the only one at the security, the agents apologized for any delay. Next step was the Concorde lounge – although I consider Virgin First Class lounge to be better than this lounge, it still was the CONCORDE Lounge. The boarding was from the lounge directly into the plane. With two by two seating and 100 seats in the flight, there was no entertainment on this flight. The flight itself was amazing with a mere 3 hrs and 12 minutes from taxi time at JFK to landing at London Heathrow. On board, I was treated to Salmon and Caviar and a 1974 Champagne. The on-board crew was amazingly polite and at the end of the flight we received a memorablia package including a certificate signed by the pilot that said “I flew the Concorde”.
Now here is the part that shocks everyone. With 47$ airport taxes, the total price of the Concorde ticket is just above 10,000$ round trip. But, there is a trick you can also get the ticket for 150,000 British Airways points that can be accumulated by transferring your credit card and other airline points if you are falling short of the number. All you pay then is the 47$ tax and you could have cruised at MAch 2 (twice the speed of sound) and seen the curvature of the earth from 59,000 ft just like I did.
