You can do this easily. Contact your local Fire Department and talk to them about doing a ride along. You can usually spend a few hours with us learning about the job, riding on the engine/ladder/aid car and going on calls with us. Typically you send in a letter requesting to do so, then you sign a NDA and waiver and set an appointment.

Riding in a fire truck is a lot of fun. I’m a big kid at heart and to remember my childhood when I played with toy firetrucks, it’s the coolest thing now that I’m an adult, I get to ride in and drive real fire trucks.
Living In God's Exquisite, Miraculous Sufficiency hasn't had time to be on 43T. Been busy with life.
Okay, I didn’t ride in any firetruck where there were hot firemen. They were just ordinary men who happened to be firefighters. Every year the Chandler FD does a thing at the Chandler Fashion Mall in giving rides to kids and their parents. My kids have gone the past 2 yrs and they love it.
I also designed, manufactured a firetruck my first job out of college. Pretty cool.
Firemen always have this stigma as being so HOT, and granted some of them are, but most of the ones I see, they are normal guys, some in great shape, others not. Nothing to drool over. Quite a few of the Gilbert FD workout at the gym I go to usually. And, when I go to my Chandler gym, the Chandler FD go there.
I’d really like to see my husband and well, hate to admit this, but one of my really good friends, in firemen outfits. Yes, I’m having some lust issues here.
and was a firestation captain. My visits to the station are some of my favorite memories. Whenever my brother and I visited him on shift we would get to climb all over the fire truck and sit on top on the miles of hose. He would take us out in the truck, and a couple of times he even let us shoot water out of one of the hoses (with the assistance of a couple other fireman of course).
My grandfather was a NYC fire chief, and sometimes on visits to see my him and my step-grandmother, he took us to the fire station and let us do all the things little kids love—sliding down the pole, riding the fire truck, playing with the dalmation, etc.
Not a “ride”, but I sat on top of one while it drove around at a town fair when I was a tiny lass.
