A squirrel was back in my large Yucca tree Sunday and I was able to take their photo as they were contemplating options on how to escape. There is lots of fruit again in my neighbors yard, so that must be the attraction that is bringing them back to my house. My dog always alerts me where there are visitors in our backyard, so I’m glad I had my camera ready! 1 month ago

Since last week, I am not seen the squirrels again. I don’t know what happened, but there is more per-construction activity a block from my house so perhaps all the trucks and noise caused them to move yet again. I wish I had gotten some pictures, but even without pictures, I did complete the goal and I hope I see them again. 10 months ago

I have lived in my home since 1996 and up until a month ago never had squirrels. I’ve always had a dog except for a year after my German Shepard passed away. The neighborhood for the first 8 years had a number of feral cats that would run along my rear wall and scrounge for food from one of my “cat lady” neighbors. She passed away and the cats disappeared too within a month of her death.
Then about a year after this, about 2005, I met my new neighbors the raccoons. First just one, but eventually a female and a small one too would nest in my tree 1 or 2 nights a week. I never had any problem with them as they would obviously feed somewhere else and climbed up my tree to sleep at night. Then about 1 year ago Zody went crazy one night and we found a possum in our backyard. Had to pick him up with a shovel and move him to a place where he could escape Zody’s bark, but that was a one time experience.
Now in the last few months a number of local homes have been demolished due to some freeway construction nearby and I think that activity has caused the squirrels to move. First I saw one in my tree (Zody was going crazy barking again). Then for the first time on Friday, there were 3 in my tree including 2 that I saw mating. It makes sense to me that they like my trees since mine are the biggest in the neighborhood. Plus my next door neighbor has an orchard in their back yard which gives any animal lots of food to eat and ground cover as well. So the squirrels are here and I’d like to take some pictures, but they dissapeared by the time I thought of creating this goal and I’ll have to finish once they reappear which usually is in the mornings, so I’ll have to complete this goal on my day off. 10 months ago

There are squirrels near my mom’s recreational property in Washington State. I love watching them try to break into the birdfeeders. Here’s a video I took last week that just cracked me up!
