Juniper2 surrounded by green foliage and birdsongs
I added this goal 18 months ago. I was wondering why I couldn’t write an entry about it, and realized that I had not defined it clearly. What does it mean to me? I already have a good standard of living, in my own opinion, although my income and possessions are considerably smaller than average. Living where we choose to live means less financial opportunities, yet the cost of living is low here. It’s uncrowded, and there’s time and space to be creative, even if it’s not at a professional artist level. And there are other creative folks out here in the boondocks.
So, I’m marking the goal as done. I am replacing it with a new goal on creativity which will allow me to be more specific: “Use creativity in every aspect of my life”.
I notice that there are few entries from other people who have the goal, “Make a good living from creative pursuits”. Perhaps the goal is too vague. Sometimes it seems that the most satisfying creative pursuits are often the least profitable, in the sense of ‘a good living’.

This is a more generic umbrella for my etsy goal and my publishing goals, but still valid, I think.

some depend on others working out, others i can do right now…either way i have to take a leap…but i don’t think this world is going to get any better unless people start taking leaps…so maybe this year. Depends on how fed up i get with what I’m doing now. either way this is staying on my list

i am entering some of my paintings in a show/silent auction. i doubt i will make any money but i am seeing what maybe the people want, and then we’ll go from there. its more of a name exposure, atlanta doesnt have a big scene, but there are a lot of jobs deamed “creative” here in the commercial corporate sense, and what is wrong with making a lot of money for what you do? i’d just like to ask… but that is a rant i will not soon go on about. we will see…

Though I’m worried about coming across as a moron, I’m glad to report that I’ve been interviewed about my work for an American paper – comes out next week. It will be interesting to see what comes of it.

Without pushing myself, I’ve decided to sell through my website and via friends rather than doing markets etc and it seems to be working quite well. If it pays for my creative hobbies, then that’s enough!
