Took me 20 hours of work, but I did it and it’s awesome! My friend better like it, too, after all that work. =)
How to make a pillow
How I did it: I bought cute fabric on sale at walmart- the scrap piece- for $1.00! I decided to make a pillow out of it.
I had to cut it a bit to get a good shape, then I ironed out all the wrinkles. I turned it inside out and folded it in half, then pinned the two outer sides. I sewed the sides , removing pins as I went, with my sewing machine. Then I stuffed it with stuffing. I then sewed the top edge by hand. This part probably took the longest and I had to fold it again and sew more, because there was too much scrap but it turned out good!
Lessons & tips: iron fabric first, use pins to ensure straightness, don't forget to sew inside out until your last seam.

One of my friends is graduating from college and moving into a new apartment, so I want to make her something as a graduation/housewarming gift. With my limited funds and thus-far limited sewing/embroidery skills, I want to try to make her a personalized decorative pillow. Her degree is in music education (focusing on choral conducting), so I’m thinking one side will have “Professional Choir Nerd” embroidered on it.
Other ideas are welcome, though. =)

Years ago I made two pillows as gifts for my father-in-law.. they were red, white and blue patchwork with cross stitch patches. Each one included the name and birthdate of one of his grandchildren.
Pompin died 3 years. More grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren, have since been born. I wonder what happened to those two pillows.
