I’ve always wanted to dye my hair a natural dark red, but I think it will have to wait until I grow my hair out some more.

Red Hair  — 4 weeks ago

Worth doing!

I would call this worth doing because it was something I have always wanted to do, and if I didn’t do it, I would regret not taking the chance. I would always wonder about it.

That said, the result was pretty . . . disastrous. I wanted something along the lines of Julianne Moore red but got something along the lines of cartoon character red. It was really really red, of a kind that doesn’t naturally occur in human hair.

It faded very fast and I thought that would be a good thing, but it turned into a gray-tinged dingy-looking red, which was worse than the crimson.

Red hair is hard to dye over! I tried a few times and even used a product called “Color Oops” but only managed to change it into a weird coppery color. I finally had to use a color removal kit to get the red out. I am a blonde again, although not quite the shade of blonde I want yet. Getting close, though.

always an eye catcher! but be careful!  — 4 weeks ago

red is fun! i recommend Loreal “Red Hot”; i did this for over a year, & it looks great on dark hair.

be forewarned though.. of all the hair colors i’ve tried, red faded the quickest and was the hardest to remove from my hair. even when i dyed darker colors on top of it, that faded red still showed through a bit after awhile. but fun!

emiliakaarina missed the downpour by just minutes and stayed dry :)

Ha, why don't you look at that...  — 4 weeks ago

It sure is red after all. At least in some light.
And no, I haven’t done anything to it now. It has just faded during these past two months. I’m actually waiting for my mum to finally agree to bleach my hair so that I can get closer to having blue hair.
I’m liking the red too, though. I would still love to have bright red hair. Oh, choices, choices~

Not worth it!

it depends on what your natural hair color is.. how it will turn out and all. i have brown hair and i dyed it an auburnish color (turned out to be red) and it looked awful. red hair looks good on some people, but other’s not. try temp. dye first!

my experience  — 4 weeks ago

i’ve been dying my hair red for…2 years now and its totally worth it!

even tho the dyes i use have varied over time and for one awkward stint my hair was…black and chocolaty brown ( got a little tired of my red hair fading too fast)
...i dont wanna talk about it lol

i always go back to red its sooo adorable
but my heads never gotten over the shock
of the other colors
it now always has an annoying brown undertone 8(

i think im going to have to lighten my hair 8[

I might henna my hair!!  — 1 month ago

I’ve been wanting to dye my hair red for a couple months but haven’t gotten the courage to actually DECIDE to do it till now…

I’m going to use red henna cos it’s nice and natural, and my hair is mousy blonde with a lot of golden blonde on the top layers because of the sun bleaching it…I’m hoping it will turn out a nice bright red!!! Can’t wait!! :D

I’ve colored my hair red before, and I loooved it. Now I’d like to do it again, but am afraid it wont come out right because my hair is a dark brown right now. Anyone know if I’ll have to bleach it or got any advice? Btw, I’m using Paint The Town- Clairol. It’s beautiful :]
