I’ve been working on this goal again for the past few months.

Yesterday I did 100 snatches but had to put the bell down at 60 for a minute or two to get my breath. Did the whole thing in 7:40.

Hopefully, I’ll get this done next week and move on to trying with the 24kg (1.5). 3 years ago

Set 1 = 20
Set 2 = 20
Set 3 = 20
Set 4 = 20
Set 5 = 20
Set 6 = 20

2 min rest between sets. Started to get a stitch after set 3 on the right side. Both sides after set 4 and 5. Grip started getting weak after set 5. A tendon started hurting in my left thumb during the sixth set, so I stopped. That and my whole body was about done.

It’s been so long since I did these that I’m not sure why I’ve gotten better at them. Maybe just being used to the effects of doing them is making my body better able to cope with the stress.

I did a couple of sets today with a student, but the furnace is not working and I didn’t warm up enough. My left quad cramped pretty badly and I couldn’t do more than two sets (with some cleans, presses, and warriors thrown in.) 5 years ago

I might have done 5 sets. Actually, I think I did. No side stitch after set 3. Pretty good one after set 4 on the right. I was going to continue, but someone came in that I had to talk to, and that’s why I lost count.

I did this after a mild jump rope workout that winded me and made my calves cramp, but was otherwise not bad.

Either way, a good workout. My cardio is picking up fast, even though my workouts are sporadic. I’m trying to do better.

By the way, grappling tonight was grueling. My body hasn’t recovered from the lactic acid load yet. Any suggestions? 5 years ago

Set 1 = 20
Set 2 = 20

Push-ups first like last time, but more like 10 minutes between them and snatches. Left hand first on the snatches.

Muscularly I could have done more. Towards the end of set 3 I got a stitch in my right side. The same place in set 4 it recurred, but during the two minutes rest where I would have gone to set 5, it progressed to both sides and I could barely breathe.

Based on past experience, I decided to call it a night. Those are no fun, and I exceeded my goal. Plus, I have a hard day tomorrow. 5 years ago

Set 1 = 20
Set 2 = 20
Set 3 = 20

2 minutes rest between sets. Rough, but it makes you focus like no other. Crazy stitch in my side after the second and third sets. I did my push-ups first, with 3-4 minutes of rest between them and these.

Left hand first was fine, push-ups killed my endurance though. I doubt that I could have gone more than 5 more on the first set.

Still, I made my goal here, if not on the push-ups. Yay me! 5 years ago

Got to 40 snatches today. Pushing the upward boundary for now. I’m going to start with my left hand tomorrow and see if that helps any. I’m also thinking of doing sets of 20 or 30 to build up, rather than pushing the boundary every day. I’ll look at some blogs and articles over the next day or two and make up my mind on a training strategy. 5 years ago

Ken Ring100 Kettlebell Snatches

To get the RKC (Russian Kettlebell Certification) I need to perform 74 Snatches with a 1.5 pood KB. I currently only have a 1, so I’m shooting for 100 with the one I have until I get the new ones. Even then, I might leave the goal the same so that I can be sure to hit it when tested. 5 years ago
