learn to roll cigarettes

I did it :)

Bought myself 50grams of golden virginia and shit loads of papers, and every time i went out, instead of buying fags i would roll them instead, it took a bit of time at first, but now after a week or two, i can roll a decent fag in under 30 seconds.

It helps you cut down, as theres more effort involved than just pulling one out of a packet, and it scores you instant friends at parties.

Do it, you wont regret it :)

I tried to roll a cigarette today and was reasonably successful. It’s smokable, but too loose. Also, uh, I am used to smoking cigs with filters and so this is different. But not a bad first try.

Okay, I think I learned this at a party a few nights ago:

1) “boat” the paper, making sure the sticky part is face up and away from you.

2) lay the tobacco in a line in the middle of the paper.

3) Fold up both sides of the paper and roll the tobacco by moving the sides of the paper up and down, between the thumb and fingers.

4) With thumbs on the near outside, index finger in the middle, and remaining fingers on the other side, tuck the near side in, over the tobacco.

5) Tricky part: After licking the sticky part, roll the paper up around the tobacco, using the thumbs to push the near side around the tobacco, and the back fingers to fold the far side around.

6) Finally, close it by pasting the farside along the length of the rolled cigarette.

7) Tuck any hangning to tobacco into the rolled thing. It’s ready to light.

If you’re going to smoke anyway, I’ve been rolling my own for years, five or six a day. sometimes they still come out looking a bit mis-shapen and you get those lumpy ones sometimes if you don’t spread the tobacco properly. Most of them come out fine and roll-your-owns taste better than tailor-mades.

And bought me nice rolling tobacco and papers! So I think I will embark on this goal soon.

Just as a skill, it’s not a bad thing to know in my opinion.
