I want to volunteerat my local animal shelter because I am an ALL animal lover. Whenever I see an animal being abbused I cry.
How to volunteer at my local animal shelter

How I did it: I looked up the website for Town Lake Animal Shelter, and contacted the volunteer coordinator. I filled out an application and attended multiple training sessions. Then I was good to go! Also my training let me help out with the evacuees' pets during hurricane Ike with the organization Pets America.
Lessons & tips: Being a volunteer you are very limited with how you can interact with the animals. It can be frustrating.

over the weekend. I’m going to make the call in the next few days to volunteer at the PAWS Wildlife center. The time commitment is do-able.

help at an animal shelter soo much. I love animals a ton and have three cats myself but I don’t know how to get started. I need help and my town is pretty small. I just want to help take care of animals but how?

died recently was lover of animals and cared for several feral cats in her neighborhood. I’m not sure who is caring for the cats now, probably her daughter since she lives close by and the house will probably remain in limbo for while until the estate is settled.
She did not have a memorial service and the family asked that donations be made to the local cat rescue in lieu of flowers so I think I will make a donation in her name.
I still haven't volunteered at the shelter

but did work with the local rescue group to help another friend re-home her dog. He’s doing so much better in his new home and is so much happier. I was so glad I was able to help her with this.

very far with this goal, but I did help a friend of mine re-home her cats so they did not end up in a shelter. It felt really good to find them a good home. :o)

I really want to get more active with this goal. I need to find the time. It makes me sad that so many animals are in shelters. I have helped some of my friends find new homes for their animals with the help of a local animal rescue group. I just want to do more!
