Tuesday I went for a short run, but yesterday and today? nada.
How I did it: Several things helped me with becoming more active:
- walking during my lunch hour, then eat my lunch at my desk while checking email
- parking farther away and walking a bit to stores
- if waiting (for someone to arrive, for the mechanic, etc.) go for a brief walk instead of sitting in the waiting room
- do yoga poses during TV commercials
- dancing at karaoke (no, I don't wanna dance *with* anyone, thanks)
- bodyboarding when the boys are surfing
There may be days when I'm sick, have low energy, or otherwise not feel up to intense activity... but overall I have achieved this goal.

killer cramps + the worst commute so far- left office at 6, got home at 8- mean no active for me.

9/5: walked for at least an hour along the canal, went dancing for two hours
9/6: walked 2.2 miles
Today, in addition to a very active rehearsal with lots of acrobatics, I walked the half-hour to rehearsal this morning and climbed Lion’s Head Peak this evening!
despite eating shockingly unhealthy fish and chips, I then went for a hike in the forrest. We saw no baboons, but it was stunning!

I’ve been doing lots of walking each day and occassional swimming. I’m hoping to be able to do some hiking soon.
Now I’ve got a system: I walk to rehearsal (45 minutes) or I walk to work (20 minutes, there and back so 40 total) Every Day. Add in the occasional yoga and hiking, plus rehearsals and warm ups… yeah! I’m rocking this goal.

5/22/09 – walked 2 miles
5/23/09 – swam many, many laps in the pool
Went for a brisk hour-long hike in the mountains, a walk earlier, and a ballroom dance class tonight!
