I’ve made a good start, I’ve done a year from the year I was born… but I’d like to move it along a little more! Every time I scan in a photo it gets added to the computer’s screensaver, which is motivating because it’s always great to see new photos up there :)
It can be relaxing if the TVs on or if there’s some good music playing!

Bulk scanning services 6 months ago

I’d like to scan and organise all my old family photos. I know it’s possible to do this with a home flatbed scanner – I got through about 150 photos from my time in Cameroon a few years back. However, the quality and the speed were both too sketchy at the time.

Does anyone (in the UK!) know a cheap, high quality scanning service I can send my photos off to? I’ve found http://www.iphotoscanning.co.uk/ and http://www.scanero.com/ so far, both of which offer surprisingly high prices and low resolutions.

My Pictures from Summer Camp! 7 months ago

I scanned all my pictures I took at Summer Camp from 1978 to 1982 and have posted a bunch to my facebook account and have had great fun finding old camp friends and seeing their old camp pictures! It’s amazing how much people change in 25 years.

Do it now before they start to fade (as mine were starting to do), it’s great fun.

I found a bunch (like a thousand) old photos in my grandparents lodge last year. Some of the them are nearly 100yrs old and no one my family cares much about them. There’s so much history, like there’s tons of old pics from denmark in the 1900s and colorado during the 1920s. I just want to figure out who’s in all of these, so I can trace my family tree.

    Started it! 12 months ago

I started doing this, I’m doing all of the family photos since about 1975, which was like 12 yrs b4 i was born but im finding it really interesting. All of the baby photos are amazing, its taking a while to get through but is very rewarding. Get doing it!

    Summer project 12 months ago

This is my new project for the summer…

I am just sick and tired of looking at that moving box filled with all those pictures. And not being able to enjoy all the old pics. So, this summer, they’re going digital!!

I started to do this myself on this really old Kodak scanner. After a while, I decided to look for other solutions. I came across a few but I tried this company called Scanapix. They did a very good job and their pricing was very reasonable.

I just started doing this last week, and not only are there a lot more pictures than I thought there were, but it’s taking me much longer to scan them. I’m sure that it will definitely be worth it, though… especially since my parents are paying me to do it.
