We got the date of the trip moved to April 21st, which means I can go. Unfortunately our advisor can’t make it which means we’ll have to find someone else, so it’s still not 100% that I’ll be able to do it.

unfortunately my fraternity decided to plan it’s spring initiation on April 14th, and I can’t miss it because I’m supposed to be the one that coordinates it.
I’d try to move the date for either the trip to the week before but that’s Easter, or the week after but that’s the weekend before finals.
rats.

The date’s set for April 14th. I proposed this at hall council for the RA job and they pounced on it. It’s at this place called Wildman Ranch and it’s on the Peshtigo River in Wisconsin. Fortunately for me, the hall council subsidized the cost so we only have to pay $5 per student (which includes transportation).
Hopefully the water’ll still be high enough for it to be worth it.
Just made a trip to West virginia for camping, hiking and white water rafting on the gauley river. Did 40 rapids including 2 category 5 rapids and atleast 3 to 5 category 4 rapids. Saw fellow rafters get thrown out of the raft, almost got thrown out my self, took a 25 feet jump from on of the jump rocks into the cold gauley waters and just had a blast. Definetely a must do again.
I went once in Costa Rica, but it was mostly level 2-3. I want to try level 3 and maybe 4, but I want it to be warm enough to enjoy the water.

went back when I was 13 up in Wisconsin and am planning on doing it again this summer. Should this work out, I’m hoping to use it as a program for my residents (I’m an RA at LUC) this fall. If you live in the midwest, it looks like there are 3 places in Wisconsin to go (Kosirs, Wildman, Thorton’s)
Anyone know of a place relatively close (within 50 miles) of Chicago that isn’t one of those three?
I used to be a guide! But before that I went bodysurfing in whitewater for years.
1. Go with good friends
2. Go when it’s hot outside. (it’s so miserable when it’s cold and damp and windy)
3. Spend the night on the beach and sing or horse around.
4. Swim a lot!!!
5. Get in a lot of water fights with the oars, and dunk your friends a lot.
6. Psych yourself up for the really good rapids and scream at the top of your lungs and make your guides port the boat back up stream and do it again.
7. Drink a couple of beers at night.
8. Get up really early before everyone else and watch the wildlife come down for drinks.
IT’s really awesome.
If you want to go, but don’t have money, call all of the guide services and tell them you will volunteer labor as camp cook, or driving etc. in exchange for getting to tag along with a group. Don’t worry. It’s much more fun than you might think and you meet friends really fast. Some may end up being friends for life.
We’ve planned the trip! We’re going back to the Kennebec River in Maine, but this time on a dam-release day. I can’t wait!
My first time white water rafting was a lot of fun. I believe it was a level 5 rapids, (that’s us above). I was so worried I would fall out of the raft but my friends and I all managed to stay in. I would definitely love to do it again.
