I have one of those bumps in the bridge of my nose (think Ashley Simpson, before plastic surgery). I also consider that my nose is a bit large for my very small face. As a child, it really bothered me, because kids can be so very mean. But over the years I’ve also received some wonderful compliments on it, too. It’s typical of human nature that the insults stay with you but the kind words go unheeded…
In the past year I’ve truly become more comfortable with it. I still can’t figure out why other bump-less people think MY bump is all that great, but for whatever reason it doesn’t feel so alien to my face anymore. I know now that I won’t have it chiseled or molded, and I no longer mind taking pictures of my profile. It’s real and it’s unique, and it’s all mine.
