MeaningfulLifeThank you, Mom and Turner Classic Movies!
Two summers ago, I was suffering from a combination of grief and depression. I developed a love of movies around that time, and thank goodness I did! They were the only thing powerful enough to distract me from my pain.
It all started when my mother insisted I watch her VHS copy of Laura. She said that, although it was old and black and white, there was an interesting plot twist and I’d love it. She was right, of course. I loved it so much that she gave me the tape and let me keep several others in her collection that I also enjoyed.
In addition to perusing my mother’s video collection, I checked out Turner Classics Movies on the Internet and on television. At first, I searched out more films by Gene Tierney, Vincent Price, and Clifton Webb (all of whom starred in Laura) along with Mom’s recommendations. It wasn’t long before I started giving anything that sounded intriguing a chance. My own video and DVD collection grew and my interest developed into such a passion that taking up acting became one of my goals.
I do enjoy some more modern films, too, but my heart will always belong to the classics. 7 months ago
