publish a short story somewhere

Shoot I keep forgetting to submit things. I have this new story – it is silly, about vampires in a wine store, in a way, and I think I will submit it to an erotic vampire fiction contest? Ha!

I want to send this other story off to a sweet contest… must get it printed and send a cheque for $25…. by July 15th.

I have been waiting like over two months to hear back from this publication where I submitted a story. SO this morning I sent it off to another one.

How long do you wait before giving up that you will hear back? It has been two weeks now…

Do little literary journals at least send you a little rejection note? Is it rude to write and check on it?

I m working on a few more stories too. Surely I’ll get one of these damn things published in some way… even if I have to do it myself.

I SUBMITTED! With my friend’s illustration. One day before the deadline.

Now the wait begins.

I found an interesting journal doing a call out for something that might fit the bill for one my stories. I am going to send it along with an illustration. As soon as my frined finishes the illustration. I wonder if it helps to have an illustration? I hope so.

I got advice from a few writers on where to look too. I am totally gonna accomplish this goal!

I peeked around at different journals and short fiction contests today. Made a little list. I’ll wait till I have a bit more material and more polished, etc. But it can’t hurt to try, right?

I have been working on this story bout lobster fishing – maybe will try and send it to a few literary magazines to see? Would also like to find someone to read it and make suggestions…
