Yes they work. Actually many of the techniques are tried and tested since the ancient Greeks and Romans. Some are new and revolutionary. The problem is that you will not become a memoriser just by reading about the techniques, it is a skill to be developed, just like reading. The only program that also offers a methodology to built a memory skill is school of phenomenal memory. They do give the techniques for free however, if you want to take a look:

I’m thinking of trying the procera avh.Not really sure if it works or not.Has anyone here tried it before?
These things work in the same way that bicycles or pizza cutters work. They work in certain situations, but they aren’t for everything.
If you want to remember some long numbers, they help so much. Either make up a story, or notice funny patterns inside of the number. For instance, my credit card has 8008 80 in it and that’s a boob and a half.
Still, these things take practice like anything else, so I guess the trick is to work on them. You can work on them with little extra time, but they take up a lot of effort unless it’s something important. Eh, they help you be more aware, which is the real secret… Ergh. Too bad there’s no worth it sort of button.
I added that book to my wish list. Someday I’ll get it and read it and report back.

Those programs do work. I uses to have the hardest time remembering the simplest things, now all I have to do is go to the grocery store and pick up the dry cleaning, then Peter Rabbit told his mother he’d lost his jacket in Mr. McGregors garden so then Tony Montana shouts ‘Say hello to my little friend!’ and crayons taste like purple but the bluberries went bad so we had to throw them out at second and Johnson was tagged but not before he was safe at home, home on the range. And that’s why I’ll never eat squid again.
Harvard Medical School, those people are serious… they wouldn’t be scamming, would they? Then again, just ‘cuz some jerk went to Harvard, it doesn’t make him a saint!
Entries at Amazon.com make it sound like lots of this is about drinking less booze, getting enough sleep, getting the right kinds of vitamins, etc. This makes sense to me. It’s the exercises to improve your memory I am skeptical about.
And after I left him I was wondering about brains and memory. I have heard that there are ways to improve your memory. I have heard that our memory doesn’t have to decline with age, though it often does.
But all those programs look so cheesy. Not that I have taken a good look.
I guess this is the preliminary goal, and if someone can recommend something that works, maybe I’ll try it. (If not now, then sometime before I’m 50.) Who knows, maybe it’s not too late for Grandpa, either.
