It’s quite a vicious cycle. I stayed up late last night to support a friend who had a performance. I ended up being exhausted after work probably because of that and the weather. Long story short I should have been asleep by now and since I’m not I’ve been musing over all the things I need to accomplish. Hoping using this site and reaching out will help me find motivation and the support I need. 7 months ago
I think the secret for me is consistency – going to bed at a reasonable hour (reasonable being 10pm during the work week), relaxing after work (no work emails or calls after 6pm), and a better and healthier diet.
Of course, there are days I wake up 3 times, but I’m consistently getting more than 7 hours of sleep.

So far, the “going to bed at 10pm” part is going fine.
I sometimes find myself reading too long – not sleeping at 10.30 – but it’s not soo bad.
What’s bad is I still don’t sleep through the night. I’ll wake one or two times, mostly at 3 or 4am.
I’ll have to dig out my trusty excel sheet and record my sleep habits better! 10 months ago
well it seems I actually feel better with a bit LESS sleep. About 7 hours usually does pretty well for me. Unfortunetly, my family goes to bed at nine and wants the house quiet 10 months ago
I sleep quite well now, and if I manage to get my mind of work and health problems, I even sleep through the night.
Now I’m working on my going to bed time. I try to be in bed at 10pm and read a little so I’m going to sleep at 10:30.

Not getting enough rest has foiled my meditation goal. Every time I tried meditating last week, I fell quite asleep…. I need to make getting enough sleep a higher priority, so that my other goals can flourish :)
I’ve tried setting an alarm to go off at “bedtime” but I completely disregard it. I will begin to document my sleep, because seeing it in black and white may shock me.
Tues night: slept at 12:20am, woke at 5:10am (4 hrs 50 min)
Weds night: slept at 11:30pm, woke at 6:30am, 1 wakeup for 15 min at 4:30am (6 hrs 45 min) 13 months ago
I finally managed eight hours of sleep a few nights ago and I couldn’t believe how easy it was to get up in the morning, or how I didn’t feel tired all day. I also read in a Wired article that an extra hour of sleep per night makes as big of a difference to one’s personal happiness as making an extra $60K per year. That seems pretty far fetched.
If I start getting ready for bed at 10:30pm, I can probably manage to actually nod off by midnight. There always seems to be some unexpected thing to do, so I’d better build in some padding. 14 months ago
I’ve tried 6, 6.5, and 7; all of which has left me dragging myself out of bed in the morning and desperate for the lifeline of my morning coffee. It seems to take me awhile to get to sleep, so I’m going to try and be in bed with a book by 11pm so that I can bounce out of bed at 7:30am the next morning. That means I need to start getting ready for bed at around 10pm as something aome thing always seems to come up that I have to get done then and there. Man, 10pm seems early, but it’s better than be tired all day long. 15 months ago
I stayed up until 2 am last night, for reasons which now elude me. Oh yeah, procrastinating and leaving things too late…
I overslept by an hour and a half. I’ve been awake now for two hours and I still feel half asleep.
Maybe tonight, I’ll try to go to bed by eleven? 15 months ago
I’m having the same problem getting to bed on time as I’m having getting anywhere on time: trying to fit in more things that I really have time for. Looks like I need to revisit my time management skills if I’m going to make any progress on this goal. 15 months ago
