this past week for a variety of reasons. Well, nothing to do about it other than try to recover on this weekend and hope for better sleep next week.

How I did it: I actually did the work that I had to do on time. I would screw around when I got home and stay up until 3 am making it up. I would stay up until 5 in the morning for no reason on weekends. It really does your body a lot of harm, although the idea seems like fun. I got really irregular and felt crappy all the time. I get 6-7 hours of sleep on weekdays, and 9 or 10 on weekends :) sleeping too much isn't great either, haha. Read how I did it…

How I did it: First I had to collect all my todos. I also made a "minimalist's programm" every day in the morning and I said "no" to many things, such as talking boring things with my poor lonely neighbour for too long or surfing the internet randomly late at night. On the other hand, I didn't plan when to go to sleep and I didn't expect I would go to sleep always on the same time. And a nap in the afternoon or after an early dinner works wonders.Eati… Read how I did it…

How I did it: I started getting to bed earlier and earlier, slowly adjusting my routine, aiming to be in bed by 21:00. This helped a lot, but getting up in the morning was still hard. It changed dramatically when I stopped drinking coffee. I no longer needed to push myself to bed, I merely could not keep my eyes open any longer. The most amazing improvement was starting to wake up naturally early in the morning. Read how I did it…
How I did it: Started by charting how much sleep getting at night, noting things such as amount of time waking in the night, how long took to fall asleep, when waking in the mornings. From here, important steps were setting a regular bed time, only being in bed to sleep, no reading in bed, leaving the bedroom if unable to fall asleep in about 20-30 minutes. Meditation right before bedtime also proved helpful. Steps outside of bedtime … Read how I did it…

as I had my first bad ear ringing episode since last fall. It’s much better by now. I hope this was a one-time occurrence.
This is going pretty well, I think that cutting back on caffeine and alcohol probably helped the most. I’m sleeping pretty good, but for some crazy reason, keep waking up at 4:30 a.m. (almost exactly the same time every night) for about an hour. Then I fall into the deepest best sleep just as it’s time to wake up.
Lately it had happened several times that my door bell rang early in the morning, waking me. By the time I was able to answer it, no one was there.
Since I usually can’t get back to sleep then, this ends up disrupting much of my day, for what I assume is somebody trying to sell me something.
So I now experimented with my door bell’s many buttons (for which I was given no manual of course…) and was happy to find out that an unlikely combination actually lets me turn the sound on and off :)
This will help me sleep more peacefully. That’s great !
I had considerable trouble falling asleep – I hope I can make up for that on the weekend.
cutting back caffeine and drinking less vino really did help. I am also trying to be more conscious of it. You don’t get more done when you neglect yourself and your sleep. I am one of those people that actually needs quite a bit of sleep, and I feel tons better when I do.
I’m currently trying very hard to balance the need for sleep with trying to get a little time for myself and too much work.
I’m currently doing okay, mostly due to the stored up energy from my recent con visit, I’m sure.
Still, the weekend is allowed to arrive soon…
I was insanely sleepy all day today. I had to take a nap in the evening and feel better now. Hope this doesn’t affect my night’s sleep too much, as Monday nights are usually my most difficult night anyway…
DaveGW is on holidays :)
A nice big sleep. Just need to keep going. The key is to get this much sleep on nights where I have to get up early for work in the morning.
