Help me! 5 months ago

I want to become Jewish, how do I do this?
I have already learned a couple of things.
You can’t eat pork…
And you can’t go into any other place of worship that’s not Jewish.
Help! What else do I have to do?!

Finish up conversion by April. 22 months ago

This has been going long enough (a year?), I feel the changes, internally, so let’s just get the paperwork out of the way.

Finally 23 months ago

I’ve been thinking about this for a long long time, a lot in the last year. 3 weeks ago I found an email address for a Rabbi in Cincinnati (Oh) well, yesterday I finally got the balls to send it. He replied today! He told me to go visit 4 area Temples so, that’s my next step!! I am soooooooo excited/scared I can’t wait.

Hmmm. Tough one, this. Why? Why do I want to be Jewish? I’m not sure if there is a god. Really. But I want there to be one. Strangely enough. With me, still? Kewl. I don’t like Christianity cause of the whole trinity thing and Jesus and Mary and bla bla bla. So. My boyfriend is Jewish. Guess what? We wanna get married someday. I like the whole idea of the Jewish community and how they look out for one another. I know I don’t need to convert to marry a Jew but it means a lot to him. We talked about it at length and I’m about to take the first step: consulting a Rabbi. It’ll be on V-day! I’m excited!

Incredible. 2 years ago

What a wonderful day. It is official, today I became a Jew. I faced the Beit Din, I explained my reasoning, and then I showered and immersed in the Mikvah (ritual bath). The Mikvah was incredible-to think that I took part in a tradition that is 5,000 years old-amazing.

Then it was off to the schul, where 15 of my friends and family met me. We all gathered on the Bima, where I held the Torah scroll in my arms while I read a passage, and was gifted my new name—Ahava Zahora. Ahava meaning friendship and love, Zahora meeting light/shining/brightness.

Then I read my speech, was blessed by my Rabbi, and then we all went out to eat a fabulous lunch at Vios Cafe on 19th. There we all sat around, talked, ate, enjoyed each others company… it truly was a perfect moment in my life.

My dream 2 years ago

My dream is to convert to Judaism. This has been on my mind for a few years.I have never had a sense of belonging.I am from a none religious family and have never been christened.I would like to learn hebrew and one day hopefully live in Israel. I have been trying for the past few months to get the ball rolling. I have tried to contact many Rabbi`s but have not been getting anywhere. I hope i am soon to have a tad of luck. I will carry on praying to God and hope for the best.
