I’ve been skating for a year or two, and I bought my first LONGboard yesterday. I’m hopefully going to be able to bomb long hills by the end of the summer!

I’m not sure if a 30 year old mother of three is supposed to take up riding a longboard but I’ve had a blast so far. My goal isn’t to learn to do anything too snazzy on it. I just want to feel more in control. I rode to friends house yesterday and she had a good laugh when she saw me.

I bought a longboard about a month ago while I was in New Zealand. I had a travel buddy who skated so it was easy to hang out and skate places to get practice. Now that I am at home, I drive everywhere because I live so far out of the city center and NONE of my friends would think of stepping on a skateboard… sooo Ive only ridden a couple times. I really wish the longboard culture was bigger here so maybe I could meet someone who would skate with me.. but ive only seen ONE kid with a longboard in this city and he was about 15… and I dont want to go to jail….
