Chosen instrument: Guitar 2 months ago

Advantages: Got a guitar
Know how to play “Smoke on water”

Disadvantages: Not great tuning
Dont really understand what key to play tabs in

It’ll take time :) I will go out a.s.a.p and buy a new guitar book!

Any recommendations?

i fiddled with the harmonica and then discarded to a drawer. just was not for me.
i got an electric quitar and a book so i’ve been strumming
i figured if so many people can do this i can too.
i’m glad i chose to do this over the summer because i have more time.
though to be honest i kinda put in down in a corner of my room and haven’t picked it back up. but i will! and for now it makes great decoration.

I think I would like to play the congas. I love the sound of the congas and I think it can’t be that hard. All you have to do is hit the drum until you make a beat. I am going to buy a small conga and maybe take a lesson, or buy a video.

well i learned what instrument i am going to torture and hopefully the next steps will be as easy as this one. it’s going to be… a HARMONICA!!! :) i told my friend this and he laughed because he says that they are lame. but whatevs it looks easy and i need instant gratification so this seems the closest. next i’ll go to stores and see which one calls out to me. :)

Piano would be nice.

Accordion 14 months ago

I started taking accordion lessons last month and so far its uber fun! Although its hard to discipline myself to practice everyday I do enjoy it and hope I can stick with it despite my crazy life schedule. I chose the accordion because I used to take piano lessons (only about 6 months worth) and when I moved to Seattle from So Cal I couldn’t fit my full size keyboard in my tiny studio so I sold it. The accordion was a compact unusual instrument that first caught my attention when I was traveling in Paris and saw street performers playing them. I noticed that it had a small keyboard on it and thought it might be a neat instrument to try out. So far so cool!

Well, so far this isn’t really going that well! I’ve started learning how to play the guitar, but sort of got discouraged because I can’t tune it. In fact, I haven’t played since I moved house. So my guitar is sitting there, out of tune… Oh well!

I would love to learn how to play guitar or piano. I could write my own music AND play it.

maybe 2 years ago

the mandalin? (sp)

perhaps the violin, or guitar?

i used to play the piano, i’m bored with percussion.

Third times a charm 2 years ago

So a long time ago I tried taking piano lessons since my mom had inherited my great grandmother’s piano. But that didn’t last with my mom having migraines. So years later I thought I would try the guitar – everyone seems to play and its pretty portable – but it just didn’t seem to click with me. Having no nails probably didn’t help either. So a few years after that I picked up piano again but unfortunately due to many circumstances, I had to give it up. I really enjoyed the piano and would like to someday pick it up again. For now, I am starting to become interested in the accordion. Its compact, piano-like and peppy. I figure it might be something I could dig. Now the only challenge is finding an accordion on my non-existent budget.
