Niel is figuring out if he likes what he's doing.

    Zero. 7 hours ago

Got nothing written today, with Toastmasters and a work function eating up all the time.

    But there’s a write-in tomorrow!

    Word count: 43,657
(I must say that I smiled a little bit when I passed the 43,000 mark.)

One of the reasons I did 3,000 words today (the other being the train ride…) is that I’m driving to work tomorrow. My guy needs to go to the same city and I’m joining him. So that’s a nice start to the day but of course I can’t write! I may write on the way back but only very maybe. We have a symposium tomorrow and loads of people from Amsterdam will be there so chances are pretty fat that we’ll go home together. Oh how nice! Not. Need to write! ;-)

The funny thing is that even now the story keeps surprising me. It takes its own turns and twists and, more importantly, keeps its own pace. Sometimes I want to elaborate but it won’t let me. Sometimes I want to move on but I find myself describing something, or spelling out a conversation between people. Apparently these things need to be said! Anyway, the story lines of the two main characters are coming together again at this point which is also kind of nice. Although I still don’t know what will happen tomorrow. Or the day after. Actually today I realised that this writing is just like reading – you don’t know what is hiding on the next page. Except that I don’t need to go down Depression Valley if I don’t want to. And I don’t want to. ’s my book! :)

On the train this morning alone (= about 55 minutes) 17 hours ago

I cranked out about 1,400 words. The train is definitely it for me. :D

This was my total on Sunday when I stopped for the day. My book still isn’t finished but I can feel it moving toward the end. And yes, my characters have done some surprising things. Some of them have grown more than I expected, and most of them have improved.

    NaNoEdMo anyone?

    Word count: 40,764

Sadly I did not do nearly as many as I had hoped to do today. Which is bad bad bad! Hopefully I will catch up a little tomorrow as I will be spending some time on the train again. I swear, if I would ever become a professional fiction writer, I would spend all my days on the train. I’d travel between here and Paris every day, there and back. :D

I had too much to do tonight, not to mention the looming headache, so I couldn’t do the 2k I want to do, but got a nice 1k nevertheless.

Writing up a nice introduction to one of the experiments I intend to do.

I think I can push into the 30000s tonight.

Google docs was panicking while I was at work. It actually DELETED a whole damn paragraph by accident. Thems fighting actions.

I managed to scrape together what I thought I’d written, and probably added some improvements.

My first sexy scene written at work. Not advisable.

With some effort I wrote my 2000 words for the day. Woot, 40k!

I fear that I have run out of things to say about what I have done. I guess that means the last 10k will have to be about what I’m going to do.

    Day 23 2 days ago

    Word count: 40,096

    Whooot! Passed the 80% mark!

... and realising that NaNo will be over in 7 days. Since I want to be safe with the counting (sometimes the site misdirects my word count to another day…) it actually will end in 6 days for me. Oh gods! That means a little over 1,600 words a day. Which is very doable. Oh my… Am I going to actually make it? Wow…

Not the story though. Unless I end my thingy with a paragraph along the lines of “Suddenly they all realised it was one big mistake and they went home for tea and scones. The end.” I fear that the end will not be reached by November 30. Which worries me little bit. The ‘rules’ (for what they are) probably say that it needs to be a whole novel. Ach whatever. I’m going to take Niel’s word for it and be a Rebel. The saga will continue! ;-)
