I woke at 4.50 that night, waited in my bed for a few minutes untill the 5. informations came out on the radio, and that was exactly the moment when the result was confirmed… So I was there, awake !!

Well, just… thank you all !

Congratulations & Thank You! 13 months ago

Well done for electing Barack Obama!

if I may borrow his words

"...to those who are huddled around radios in the forgotten corners of our world – our stories are singular, but our destiny is shared, and a new dawn of American leadership is at hand. To those who would tear this world down – we will defeat you. To those who seek peace and security – we support you. And to all those who have wondered if America’s beacon still burns as bright – tonight we proved once more that the true strength of our nation comes not from our the might of our arms or the scale of our wealth, but from the enduring power of our ideals: democracy, liberty, opportunity, and unyielding hope..."

Warning: Conservative here! 13 months ago

I do indeed congratulate Borak Obama, our next president of this wonderful country that many of us share. I congratulate all of you who worked for and voted for him to be elected. I make no apologies that I did not vote for him. However as many have already said The American People have spoken and I very highly respect the system we have! Congratulations on an incredibly well ran compaign! I have never had anything but a respect for the man and I have indicated that on many posts. I do not share his views and positions on many things. That will no doubt continue to be the case.
He is my president for better or for worse! I think if our country can come together and move forward it will certainly be for better! I pray for President Obama and for the enormous job ahead of him and the other leaders of our country.
Just a note about today… The sun came up and I went to work and came home and enjoyed some wonderful food that my lovely bride made for me. Hey this is a lot like yesterday and the day before that!
Our blessing of being Americans is that we can make ourselves happy or at least have the “Pursuit of Happiness” that can drive our lives so very richly! That is what attracts me to this site in the first place and continues to do so. I love the cheers of fellow souls that are trying to accomplish somthing in there lives!
So I say one last time congratulations and look forward to accomplishing great things in the future!

Sincerely

Chris

Yay! Quite a few of my colleagues said today they had been up until 4 in the morning watching the election news on TV, it’s not often that an election in another country causes such exitement here! No more Bush! (And no vice president who doesn’t know what a vice president does!) Phew! We are all relieved and very exited for you!

Edit: GRR, there is a bug in the system that prevents me from uploading the lovely Obama cake, but well, there’s Obama cake! ;)

Congratulations America 13 months ago

A lot of you on here have worked so hard for months now, knocking on doors, making calls, having Obama stickers on your cars, and wearing badges. Congratulations, your work has been worth it. :)

I had my fingers crossed most of yesterday, and at 5:00 I heard the news that had Obama in the lead. Soon after CNN made an announcement, but the newsreader paraphrased it and said he’d won (i’m not sure if he had by that stage), so I was still a little nervous until a friend checked on tv, and confirmed he had won. I was so estactic, and so proud of everyone who went out and supported him. I stayed up to watch the late news at 10:30 so I could see his speech, and it was more than worth it. His speech was honest. He said we may not always agree, but he will always listen, especially when we disagree. I just sat there with a grin, watching him speak.

It was also lovely to see him take his daughters to vote. :)

Something else I picked up though: Sarah Palin wouldn’t say who she voted for, she blabbered something about Privacy. Isn’t the point to vote for yourself if your a politician? It would seem like she didn’t.

And to the person I saw on the news who said “I came here today to vote Obama, but I … I couldn’t do it”. Shame on you!

It’s so heart-warming to see people on here who are Proud to vote Obama. And i’m proud of you for doing so.

Nicely done, USA! 13 months ago

A few years ago, I read an article about potential presidential nominees. It had Obama down as an outsider, stating, in not so many words “He’s mixed race and his name is a bit middle eastern so… not a hope in hell, not in the USA.” I’m so happy and proud that you have defied this image of your nation and done the right thing.

When you get a new president, the rest of the world gets a new president too, only we don’t get to choose, so we’ve been sitting in nail-biting and helpless agony, wishing we could pitch in and help. You’ve done yourselves proud, and we’re proud of you too, not to mention relieved. Hooray! Congratulations! Here’s to a fabulous presidential term, to the healing of old wounds and divisions, and to the dawn of a fairer, more rational age.

And here’s to the end of the Bush era!

How wonderful to see so many inspired to get out and vote… hope, it seems, is a powerful motivator after all.
