This week I helped start a MoveOn council in the Upstate of South Carolina. We had a much larger turnout than expected for the first meeting which was fabulous!!!!!!

WE GOT OBAMA ELECTED….WE HAVE TO KEEP HELPING HIM MAKE CHANGES FOR THE BETTER IN THE USA!!!! WE’RE SOOOOO FAR FROM BEING DONE.

Next week our MoveOn group members will be holding signs in support of a public health insurance option in front of Senator DeMint’s town hall meeting. The week after that we will be going to Representative Inglis’ town hall meeting to voice our concerns that he’s said he’s not going to read the healthcare bill. Among other things.

After we get this healthcare thing approved and made into a set of good laws, we will tackle CLEAN ENERGY FOR AMERICA!!!!

    COME ON EVERYONE….WHO’S WITH ME????

I’m sad that there haven’t been more entries here. Maybe we’re all busy DOING THINGS TO HELP and just not logging them here?

Peace and good luck to us all,
    Cass

Barack Obama Once Again Inspires Me To Be The Best I Can Be 6 months ago

“I come to embrace it, to heartily concur, to affirm that one’s title – even a title like president – says very little about how well one’s life has been led,” he said. “That no matter how much you’ve done, or how successful you’ve been, there’s always more to do, more to learn, more to achieve.” (from last evening’s commencement address at ASU)

Whoopsie - Tax Cuts Are Set To Fail The Economy 9 months ago

There is an argument among some people that tax cuts are the answer for many of our nation’s troubles but just released information from the US government suggest otherwise.

The national savings rate rose, quite significantly, in the last quarter of 2008. For the average citizen, savings is a good thing – there is more money socked away for a rainy day. But in the current economy a penny saved is a penny that is not circulating through the hands of merchants and manufacturers.

A tax cut, or even a slew of tax rebates for citizens, would most likely eitehr be used to pay off credit card debt or become a part of the millions of additional money we Americans are putting into our savings accounts each week.

In order to better support President Obama’s Leadership we need to explain that tax cuts don’t do much to help the national economy – they are great for the person receiving the check, and probably even better for the politicians sending out the checks, but they are not going to jump start our economy.

He's the only souce of hope 9 months ago

That I see right now. That may be my mind set.

But he gives me hope and for that I will be forever grateful.

Our country needed change and he will provide it.

    God bless him.

America Has Heard The Call ! 9 months ago

Michelle Obama made an extra effort to call on all Americans to support their country through volunteering. Links were set up on the Obama website to all sorts of service organizations around the country in need of help. And America heard the call!

This morning I was overwhelmed by the number of people who turned out to volunteer at the Soup Kitchen. Perhaps what amazed me most was the really good time that everyone had. There are some Saturdays in which the people heading that days efforts face the task with a sense of drudgery – as if it was “work” – and oh how the mood is a bummer on those days, but not today.

Every one of the new volunteers came to the Soup Kitchen because of the Obama website.

I’m still kvelling, a whole lot, to see that many people, strangers, come together, people who never met before but had that common desire to make America a little better today that it was yesterday – THAT is what the Obamas are all about.
