    Dumb Kids 7 months ago

Many many years ago when I was a stupid kid and making so much money at Intel I could buy whatever I wanted, I thought it would be a great freaking idea to open up a Best Buy card. They gave me 4 grand! And I blew $3k of it that very night. It was like heaven.

But then it was like hell. Over the next couple years, that last thousand trickled down to zero. Well, then I found myself owing Best Buy 4 grand, and at a 21% interest rate. That didn’t concern me. I still had plenty of money coming in, I would pay it someday.

Then I had a kid. All of my money vanished, I moved to Omaha, and got a job paying a lot less than Intel. By then paying the minimum payment (as so many people know) didn’t do a damn bit of good. Because of my poor choices in the past, my minimum payment was all I could afford, and that paid for interest only. This brings up to 2007. I knew something had to change.

Thanks to a VERY good friend (you know who you are) I started to reevaluate my priorities, and the need for material possessions. I stopped buying DVDs. I stopped buying things all together, actually, and I didn’t miss it at all. Before I knew it, I had more money I could pay down my debt. Now, two years later, I have paid off 3 maxed-out credit cards, and have paid Best Buy down to $2500. That’s still a lot left to go, but it’s the only credit card debt I have left now, and that’s a great feeling. I feel better about myself as a responsible person, and thanks to everything else I paid off (with discipline and hard work over the last two years) I can pay about $250 per month to BB, which brings me to zero in about 10 months.

So, if this goal isn’t completed or met by March 1st next year, it’s because I failed. God help me….

had I known we’d need the money I would have waited but at least that’s one less bill to worry about.

BB card sort of paid 21 months ago

This was paid off but then we bought a Tom Tom. The GPS has already proved essential and something tells me that we’ll always have something on the BB card but I’m thinking we should pay off each item before purchasing a new one.
