but I did a bunch of gardening this weekend, putting in some more easy care flowering perennials. I am slowly replacing the herbs in my garden with stuff that other people will enjoy more, as I am moving in about a year and don’t want to leave a mess when I go. I put out hanging tomatoes on the porch and a bunch of my houseplants – the outdoors is good for them in the summer months. So, now that I have things that need care out there, I want to make it look and feel nice to be out there so that I go out and water my tomatoes daily. I am considering getting a folding cot to make into a couch with throw pillows that I can bring in to encourage my presence out there. I don’t really expect to have a porch like that after the move and I took advantage of it not at all last summer. 1 week ago

I spent a couple of hours on these last night and got up off the floor seriously hurting, but made some good progress. I am not as happy with the new sections as I was with the first one, but I’m not surprised at that. I haven’t decided what to do with the surface edges. 1 month ago

This next Saturday I am going to concentrate on this, because there will be nothing else that I should be doing and I will be well rested. After that I will be campaigning for oevertime as much as I can for my school break. 1 month ago

I’d already unconsciously been building a pretty solid base for my theme, but unabashedly creating this (not the hanger, decorating it) brought me to the realization of what I was really aiming for. 1 month ago

3/3 flower spheres for the ceiling. I wanted one with a whole bunch of foliage for a change from the pink version and I had very few blue flowers, so it seemed a good match. It’s hard to say which is my favorite. 1 month ago

2/3 flower spheres for the ceiling. I bought the fake flowers a bit impulsively, so when I saw how much pink I had, I put them all together in this one, with some white flowers. 1 month ago

1/3 flower spheres, for the ceiling. I think this one kind of looks like one of the Wild Gang from The Labyrinth. 1 month ago

You don’t have to tell me, I know. Tacky as hell, but they make me feel good inside. I have a couple of interesting globe shaped paperweights and other little pretty things to put on them when they are done.
I have blister alongside my right thumbnail from the hot glue gun to show for it too.
The little glass looking bits are actually plastic rhinestones. Hard to tell in the photo. Yes, Lloyd is getting in the photo. I had to ask him to move for this one. 1 month ago

I just need to keep track of my progress to stay motivated.
The Dream: I want my bedroom to have a Jim Henson type fantasy look, cavey, with flowers, like on Fraggle Rock or the The Dark Crystal.
Motivation: I want this because Fraggle Rock’s scenery is always very soothing to me, so I should have soothing surroundings to help me sleep. Besides, this is the first time in nearly a decade I have had the chance to decorate however I please, because I’m not sharing with anyone.
The Direction: It became clear to me when I started putting fake flowers in a macrame plant hanger I got at a yard sale a few summers ago. It is gaudy as hell. I think I like gaudy.
I have since added a brown, chartreuse and yellow rug, a blue and brown based wall hanging above my bed and I have made some flower spheres to hang from the ceiling.
I already had a gold shade up in my window – my window looks directly into my neighbors so it has to be covered. This summer I added some translucent red patterned plastic in behind it. The color shines through. I have a heap of plastic greenery branches to hang somehow, some flower wall clings and a metal tree wall hanging.
At the moment I am figuring out how to hang a bunch of this from the ceiling without damaging it too badly. I also have some shelves for knick knacks to decorate and hang.
Limitations: This is a lot to do, especially as I only plan to live here another year. At least I will have a plan for when I move. I can consider this bedroom as a prototype. I don’t want to paint. The ceiling is very high, I may need to acquire a stepladder. I don’t think the walls can bear a lot of weight. I don’t want to create a fire hazard… but I do want a floaty room dividing curtain for the end of my bed. I have cats. 2 months ago
