That’s right – I’ve actually been recataloging!
84 by counts from the last time that I worked on this – and nearly 3/4ths of the way done now. Woo!

DoctorTeeth says, "Oh Sky Cake, why are you so delicious?"
...essentially. While all my DVDs have been entered in the database, there is SO much information that can be gathered about each DVD, I could probably spend another four or five months entering all of it in. And, let’s be fair, I will do that. But are they all in the catalogue? Absolutely, and that’s good enough for me (for now). Now I can lazily enter information and update entries at my leisure, without feeling any “pressure” from having it on my list. I have enough other goals to work on/ignore…

I’ve actually been doing this for the past few weeks now, but then I saw that Stephmo had it as a goal and thought “Hey, I’m a bandwagon jumper and I like having movie-related goals: I’m in.” So now I’m kind of just doing catch-up right now.
I’m using Movie Collector 6.1 Pro – the movie version of the database I have for my comics and my cds – and so far I’m enjoying both the actual cataloguing and fooling around with the software. I’ve only got about 270 DVDs, and I’m already up to 161 in the database, so I’m likely going get the basic entry work done in the next week or so. Then it’s just a matter of going through the individual entries and making sure everything’s complete and up-to-date. Which is more nit-picky data work that is perfect for me. God, I love being a nerd.

I finally realized I was still putting this off, so in the hour or two that I’m up on the weekends when husband is still sleeping (in the last year or so, I’ve really lost the ability to truly sleep in – anything past 8:00 or 8:30 is crazy late anymore) when I tend to read, I’ve decided to catalog the rest of the DVDs. This was my first hour. I got 47 logged – it won’t be enough to be done tomorrow or anything (I had nearly 400 before), but it’s a productive use of time.

This puts me nearly halfway – and through a lot more dusting!
I do keep searching for trailers to put on the new site while I enter the DVDs. It does remind me that I haven’t seen a few of these movies in a while. The last trailer I watched was for SouthPark: The Movie
Ha-ha – that movie cracked me up! :)

Trying to help out a bit on the site – finding YouTube trailers for DVDs. It’s been kind of fun watching trailers. I forget how good they can make some of the worst movies! And then I remember that I own the DVD…
:)

When deciding on DVDSpot originally, I tried out Chasing the Frog…and I had 32 DVDs Cataloged already.
Guess I’ll be completing it again!

It is no more…and I missed the window to get my data.
So my old goal it turns out was an exercise mostly in dusting the DVDs.
Ah, such is life.
So, now to research the alternatives. I may just go with something software based as on-line isn’t as popular. I’ll be updating my LibraryThing profile to take the “Also-On” to remove DVDSpot since it’s kaput. Turns out they gave a two week notice last month to get data – I would have needed to have gotten it by the 18th or something. Boo for lost data – then again, I don’t know how long someone is supposed to make data available. Of course, an e-mail would have been really nice.
Anyone have any recommendations?
