have a library

My husband and I already have too many books between us and not enough space. (Although a larger percentage of his are unread and more a product of pack-ratitis or bibliomania.)

I see a comfy double loveseat with ottomans, a throw, a good light, a fireplace and coffee or tea, with a chess set on the side…maybe a bridge table too. And wireless for the laptops. (I’m a geek in addition to being a nerd.)

I just bought an apartment, and cause we don’t have children, one of the spare rooms will be a library. Now I only need to get the shelves up and the books in =)

i’ve already started a book collection. i don’t have time to read them while i’m getting my degree (in English lit of course) but i intend to find the time to read every one! i’ve decided its absolutely necessary condition that when i buy a home it have at least one extra room i can dedicate to my library! :D no compromises!

A friend of mine also wants a library, so basically she buys a lot of books and keeps them regardless of whether she’ll ever read them again. Personally, I want my future library to be filled only with books I have liked or still want to read. If I read a book and hate it, I know I’ll never read it again, nor recommend it to anyone else, so I’m getting rid of it. What’s the point of keeping it around? (Unless it’s got a REALLY pretty cover)

3.) Old Comics (microfilm!)
4.) Newspapers (microfilm!)
5.) Music

living with the ‘rents, we have a great newly remodeled library. (with a murphy bed disguised as cupboards!) but 99% of the books are my dads. i hope that i can someday fill a room with that many books.

Not giving up in general, I just need the space for some other goals. I won’t have my own home before 2009 anyway, so this can wait.

its is a condition! I do want to have a library with more than 1,000 books.

With that, I don’t mean books (I own more than 500 anyway), but a room with shelves (too be more precise, my newest desire are bookcases with glass doors against the dust) and a huge, comfortable couch for long reading sessions. Maybe a desk to work a little, but mainly…pure pleasure :D
