I’ve wanted to be a travel host for so long. I have been to 43 countries and still have a lot to go. What I like most when I travel is visiting the food markets, gastronomy, anything that has to do with food!!
How to be a travel show host
How I did it: I live in Brunei which has a demand for English language education. I submitted a pilot program for an English teaching and learning program about one year ago and it was accepted by the studio and one of the local television stations.
Lessons & tips: Always happy to share ideas and the few tips that I have picked up from my broadcasting experiences. Anyone new to camera work should note that eye movements away from the camera look terrible and that an ability to ad lib and seize the moment are vital in outdoor productions.
Resources: Everywhere is travel to someone - those who want to do travel shows should start thinking about promoting where they live now. It is important to be very well informed - even if you don't say everything on camera it is terrible if you are filmed making an obvious mistake

Have submitted program ideas to studio with good chance of ten minute spots on Borneo being produced. Would make a nice career change!

hi i’d just kill for something lyk this! hav wantd to b on nat geo for as long as i remember
If I could be anything, it would be a travel show host. There is surprisngly little “out there” on how to become such a thing. It occured to me recetnly that this is what I am destined to do, which might seem a bold statement. But I have spent the last 21 years of my life trying to figure it out – then it hit me. So this is what I’m going to do :). Hope to see you all out there one day too!
Please… help me and guide me as to how to go ahead with this dream of mine… i want to be a travel show host… I am fluent in 4 languages and i really want to pursue this.. somebody please reply
Being a travel show host would be a dream come true! I have literally been around the world and it just made me want to travel and do nothing else!
Ok, so it’s not quite a travel “show” host, but tour guide to volcanoes, beaches, mountains, gardens, sport-fishing, white-water rafting, etc….who cares if it’s televised!!!!!!
I dont recall the name of the program but I just remember this beautiful and verysophisticated woman with dark hair around her shoulders. She hosted a travel program (in the 80’s) and she’d go to all these grand museums and fine restaurants. I wanted so badly to do what she did, see those beautiful places, and be like her. My heart has always been with history and foreign cultures yet an early pregnancy seems to have obliterated the potential for their fruition. Sad to say I’ve never left the US. I am afraid I will be REALLY old before I get a chance to do the things I love; will I love them as much when my back is aching and the potential of a happenchance romance exists no more? I am 27 now and I will be 40 when my child is grown. Its a little depressing at times.
doesn’t that sound like just about the best job in the world?? Now I’m scared that I’m getting too old to ever do anything in media though- I’m an ancient 28 now, and it seems like they only allow girls to be on tv when they’re like 20. When you turn 21 or gain 10 pounds I think they stone you or something.
