It’s a new era.
How I did it: After a year of saving, I went with my daughter's class. We had never been to DC and that in itself was great. I hope to go back one day and see more.Being on the mall when Obama took his oath was unbelievable. Everyone was nice, respectable and happy to be there. I saw flags from Canada & Italy. It was simply amazing and I'm so happy that I was there. Read how I did it…

How I did it: It was a great day in history, January 20th, 2009. Our nation's first African American President! How exciting, how liberating, what a huge leap for Americans everywhere. So happy to have been alive to see the day! Read how I did it…
How I did it: I wore a button that says "barack obama rocks!". I had to go to school, but I was in D.C. in spirit. It was cool to feel proud of my country for doing something great and liking the president. GO OBAMA! Read how I did it…
How I did it: Our whole school had it on tv by eleven, pretty much, and one of our teachers even let us cut class to go to the library and watch it on the big screen! It was definitely an exciting day and I can't believe another part of history was made that day. Read how I did it…

How I did it: Our company had the atrium set up with two large-screen televisions, and hundreds of people gathered to watch...all races, ages, sizes, job level...everyone cheered, and some even wept. Read how I did it…
Today I felt one of those moments pass over me where I know I’ll “remember where I was” when Barack Obama was sworn in as president. Our office of 10 people gathered around a small television in the conference room and watched history unfold in front of us. I remember how still the moment was. Both of my hands wrapped around a warm cup of morning coffee, all of my coworkers silent and motionless. As I looked around the room to capture the moment, never have I felt our small group more cohesive and more unified.
Much like his speech in Grant Park, today President Obama gave a somber speech on the tough road that lies ahead. When I came back to my desk, I had a very proud yet humble feeling to work extremely hard at my job today, as if every American has to put in their 100% effort for us to succeed. In other words, I was inspired. Never forget the feeling to keep trying your best at everything you do.
I certainly celebrated today.
Just not in the way I imagined.
I had to work today, but I watched the live coverage on Hulu. I started crying at my desk – I was so happy! I’m glad I was able to watch it as it was happening :)
I didn’t go out, as I am trying to save money, but I celebrated with a nice home-cooked dinner and a big slice of cake.

The Inauguration is showing live in Australia at 3am.
I will be going to bed early and setting my alarm so I can wake up and watch it.
I cannot wait!
To me, this is like watching the first man on the moon or Princess Diana’s wedding. In 10 years time, everyone will be asking where you were when it happened. I will happily say that I was watching it all live.
I saw this awesome Barack Obama poster at Walmart.
Obama “We can do it!”
and he looks so angelic. I so wanted to get it, but I kind of have to conserve my money, according to one of my goals. sigh.
