be a better student

I can’t believe it, I got two A’s and a B (and I was only 1 point off a 3rd A!) for the end of my 1st year and I thought I was going to have to do re-sits! So I am already a good student, if I was better, id be getting a First. Hmmm food for thought.

i’m a pretty terrible student. i could do a lot better, i think. i don’t learn well in those huge lecture halls with hundreds of kids.

I’ve made the Dean’s List the past 2 semesters. Yay!! It feels really awesome to get good grades.

I slacked off pretty hardcore towards the end of this semester (SENIORITIS!!!), but overall, I think I did pretty well and was definitely more engaged than my previous semesters.

And now, off to the working world!!

Yesterday (April 18, 2008), I learned that my degree-program would begin offering honors and high-honors courses next Fall. If my GPA remains above 3.7, I’ll be eligible for the high honors courses. Yes! But I need to push myself into super-overdrive to ensure that my GPA remains above 3.7. Wish me luck in the next few weeks!

Its taken me a while to get myself on track, but ive managed to take a huge step and face one of my biggest fears!! In two weeks i will be attending school at the Art Institue, majoring in Fashion Marketing and Management! Ah! I am so excited!! I know that this is my passion and i am determined to stay focused!! I must admit the fact that i know that now that i dont have a boyfriend its gonna help with the study time!!

I guess an ‘A’ means I have become a better student. I will keep this ‘thing’ on here though, to remind me that I am trying to be a better student!

So, I was doing pretty well with this until yesterday. I had a paper due that I put off until the last minute, and then something came up where the time I set aside for writing it was all used up by something else. It turned into a question of if I would rather do the paper or get a good night’s sleep.

I chose sleep. That paper was worth 12.5% of my overall grade, and the professor doesn’t accept late work. Honestly, though, I could care less. I don’t especially like that class, I wouldn’t have gained any valuable knowledge from writing the paper (which is why I put off writing it in the first place, I think), and I already have a job for when I graduate (so if I end up doing poorly in this class, it doesn’t even matter).

Anyway, I’m still doing really well in my other classes, so I just have to make it to the end of the semester without completely giving up. At least I only have one final!!!

I have failed this, i am not going to do my english paper. I am instead going to withdraw from english because i think if i have to write another paper about the theme of some crap story or poem that i hate i will have some sort of meltdown. i cant do it anymore, i did it in highschool every week and that to me is enough. I already know that i am not at this time going to complete my associates degree because i will not be at IV next fall, so what the heck is the point? I just need a little time away from thesis statements and MLA style. Just some time to recharge. I yea i failed this but im not really that disappointed about it.
